It's here! It's here! It's Hollywood week!!!! I'm hoping that the bad taste the auditions left in my mouth will be washed away by Ellen's funny goodness! A girl can dream, can't she?
I'm thinking that Michael is going to have a hard night...again. I can only hope that it's either him or Megan that fail to impress tonight. I hope that Allison has an excellent night. I love her sound and want to keep hearing her. I'm pretty sure that Lil, Danny, and Adam are perfectly safe this week as well. I can't wait to find out what Adam does!! He's making this year very exciting. BTW, if you haven't purchased his "Ring of Fire" you need to. It's awesome!
Before we get started tonight I wanted to let you know that the bird is still in the old music store. I think he's stuck. I saw him twice today flying into the window. I figure that one of the downtown groundskeepers will notify someone about it. I heard a rumor today that the city can't find the owners of the building. I'm not sure how that is possible but who knows.
Also, we are getting ready to by our tickets for our South Dakota trip. Were heading out May 15th and returning May 20th. Originally, we were to stay out there ten days but that was WAY too long. Besides, I think we're getting a new piece of equipment at work that I'll have to run so the shorter I'm away, the better. Anyway, we're going out there because my little brother is graduating from High School. My cousin Kendra is also graduating but we're not going to be able to make that one. It's the week before and, as I said before, 10 days is too long. I've also set-up a tour guide for us for a day when we're in the Black Hills. Yes, I use to live in SD and I've been to the Hills many times but it's been awhile. Our tour guide live there and has a relative that works at Mt. Rushmore so there's a chance that he might be able to give us a tour!!
Well, it's time for Idol!!!!!!
The show starts out like it normally does except that this is Wednesday and not Tuesday. Ryan asks the judges the usual questions about the person that was kicked off last week and other stuff. Boring!! Ryan introduces the top ten and it looks like Michael is in charge of making sure that Scott doesn't walk off the stage since Alexis is gone.
The kids got to meet Smoky Robinson and Berry Gordy. How cool is that?!?! Smoky is the mentor this week. Does he have a CD coming out? Smoky calls the kids something special this year.
They didn't introduce the kids again so I have no idea what order they are going to be in. That is two weeks in a row. GRRR!!!! I'll have to fill in the list below as I get the line up.
Matt Giraud - 1-866-436-5701 (text "Vote" 5701)
Kris Allen - 1-866-436-5702 (text "Vote" 5702)
Scott MacIntyre - 1-866-436-5703 (text "Vote" 5703)
Megan Joy Corkrey - 1-866-436-5704 (text "Vote" 5704)
Anoop Desai 1-866-436-5705 (text "Vote" 5705)
Michael Sarver - 1-866-436-5706 (text "Vote" 5706)
Lil Rounds - 1-866-436-5707 (text "Vote" 5707)
Adam Lambert (Go Adam!!) 1-866-436-5708 (text "Vote" 5708)
Danny Gokey 1-866-436-5709 (text "Vote" 5709)
Allison Iraheta 1-866-436-5710 (text "Vote" 5710)
Matt - Let's Get It On
WOW! From pimp spot to the dead man's spot in one week. Maybe it really is the luck of the draw. NAW!! He sounds great in the video package. Smoky thinks that Marvin would love it. I think he sounded better in the video. It was okay but I have to say that I was a bit bored. He started off behind the piano and then came out from behind it and danced a little. Randy is really happy about Motown night and says he has a strong false. Kara thinks he's coming out of his shell. Paula says he showed a sexy, cool vibe. Simon calls it a great choice of song and called it a cool performance.
Kris - How Sweet It Is
He lost a spot from last week. I hope he does something exciting or else he could be in trouble. Kris blew Smoky away! He's playing his guitar again. I can tell you that playing the guitar and singing at the same time is very difficult. I've been trying to do that with Guitar Hero World Tour and it is HARD!!! He is cute but does some weird things with his mouth when he sings. He was pretty good but I'm not sold on him yet. Kara loves the fact that he did Kris and he did everything right. Paula says he picked a great song. Simon calls it smart. Randy calls it all good.
My darn "O" key is sticking!!!! GRR!!!!!!
Scott - You Can't Hurry Love
Oh gee. He's playing the piano again. I wonder if this will be another "Up with People" performance. He gets some chair time with Ryan. I really wish that he would wear glasses. Smoky thinks he brought the song up to date. Guess what ladies! He's single. LOL!! For Pete's sake, PLEASE stop voting for him! Just because he's blind and can play a mean piano doesn't mean he's a great singer. I thought it was a terrible arrangement and not a very good song choice. He messed up quite a few of the words in the beginning as well. I didn't like it one bit. OH! Scott's cute brother is in the audience. Hi cutie!!! Paula thinks that he brought something different with the singers around the piano. Simon says it wasn't a great version and that it didn't sound right AND it was the wrong song. He also called it cheap. Randy agrees with Simon and calls it a hotel performance. Kara thinks he brought tempo tonight but the execution was not perfect. The judges continue to argue. That was weird! Paula went under the table and pulled out crayons and a coloring book for Simon. Now, someone try to tell me that this show isn't scripted. Go ahead, I'm waiting.
Paula says she has more things under her skirt. We know, Paula. That's where you keep your booze and your pills.
Megan - For Once In My Life
She's singing Stevie Wonder. This should be good. Smoky calls her refreshing and original. The outfit is something to see. That arm tattoo REALLY stands out tonight. She sounds a little off but, then again, she always sounds off to me. People need to stop voting for her too. Alexis should really still be here. Randy like the outfit but calls it a train wreck, rushed, crazy. Kara sings at us again and thinks that the song dominated her. Paula calls her stunning but agrees that it was not the right song. Simon calls it horrible and thinks that she is getting bad advice and thinks that she could be in trouble.
Anoop - Ooh Baby, Baby
Smoky isn't giving anyone any advice. He thinks everything is great. Okay, this is too slow and too boring for me. A lot of these songs tonight seem like they are lasting forever. I'm not sure what Anoop should have sung but it wasn't this. Kara blabs on for awhile before telling him that he can sing. Paula wants to see more but says he was sweet and tender. Simon calls it a great vocal but that he looked asleep during most of it. Randy wants to see energy next week. Me too!!!! It was boring.
Michael - Ain't Too Proud to Beg
He missed out on going to Detroit. Smoky wants him to pound it a little more. That doesn't bode well. I think this is the first piece of advice that Smoky has given tonight. He seems really happy that his girl is leaving him. Maybe smiling during the whole song was a bad move. There were parts that were a complete mess. The ending was BAD. Paula thinks it was a little Vegas loungy and thinks that the song drove him instead of the other way around. Simon couldn't wait for it to end and says he has no chance of winning. Michael talks back which is a bad move. Randy thinks the song was too big for him. Kara piles it on as well. Great! Now I'm feeling sorry for him. Don't vote for him. Let him go him. He should have gone home last week.
I HAVE to watch Glee! That looks funny!!! I better set my Tivo!
Lil - Heatwave
This is Lil night to shine and it should be pretty easy after Michael. Smoky pulls out the Phone Book reference. I don't like her new hair. He Tina Turner outfit is a little much too. I don't think she's doing a very good job tonight. She shouting the entire song. How about sing it? That would be nice. Randy calls the front of the song torture and thinks she was rushing. Kara thinks she looks great but she doesn't think it was the right song. Kara thinks she screamed too. Paula is on lots of meds tonight because she disagrees with Randy and Kara. Simon didn't think the song gave her a "moment". I agree. They all like the look. I didn't like anything about it. She should have blown everyone away but didn't. Lil speaks Randy and Paula which means I really didn't understand what she was saying.
Was the Olivia Newton John in the house?!?!?
Adam - Tracks of My Tears
Boy! Adam sure looks different tonight. It's got the 50's look going on. Oh my goodness! I got all misty!! Best of the night! It was sweet, tender, and sad. Great emotions. You're going to love it. Smoky gave him a standing ovation!!!! Great! Now I'm all misty again and my nose is starting to run. Kara stands up for Adam and calls it one of the best of the night. Paula calls him handsome and surprising and exciting. Simon disagrees with Kara because it was THE best performance of the night. He says he did everything right and calls him a star. Randy calls it the bomb and unbelievably hot. AWESOME!
Danny - Get Ready
Smoky give Danny advice (second time tonight). It felt like he was trying too hard. It was cute how he danced with the backup singers. He seemed like he was out of breath at times. It's got to be hard to follow Adam. You all know I'm not a Danny fan and this song did nothing to change that. He should have picked something with emotion.Paula calls it first class. Simon calls it clumsy. Randy says he has a dope voice. Kara calls it good but not great.
I forgot to mention that Paula is wearing a tutu tonight.
Allison - Papa Was a Rolling Stone
She's got the pimp spot so she's safe tomorrow. That was pretty awesome! Not as good as Adam but in second place for the evening. She did mess up some of the words but seemed to cover nicely. I really dig her sound. Randy calls her dope. Kara says America has to vote for her. Simon drew a moustache on Paula's face. Simon calls it one of her best.
Best of the night was Adam followed by Allison.
Worst of the night was Michael followed by Megan and then Scott.
Everyone else is somewhere in the middle and in no danger of going home tomorrow.
What did you think?
Good evening everyone and welcome to the unbelievable filler hour that is the American Idol Results show. I'm blogging on the east coast so if you're in a different time zone and don't want to know who goes home before the show airs where you live, go way and come back later.
First, a few random things.
I'd like to give a shout-out to the person who visited my blog from Noble Park, Victoria, Australia! Is it nice there?
I blogged about a friend of mine that is in the new TV show Castle. The show is good but something in the last show is bugging me. How did the murderer (a small 20-something girl) put the dead body (also a small 20-something girl) into the laundromat dryer feet first? Did you watch it?
Also, I love comments! *hint-hint*
Onto Idol! I have some more thoughts on Adam's performance. I watched it a few more times today and it just gets better. He can hit some amazing notes! Also, he was the only one who did something original and he was true to himself. Before everyone gets up in arms about him not being original because it was a cover of a cover of Ring of Fire. To explain, "original" on Idol in my book means something I haven't heard before and I NEVER heard what Adam sang before in my life.
One more comment about last night. Where was Scott's much cuter brother? I missed seeing him last night. I hope they bring him back next week.
Ryan starts the show on the big steps with the kids. I wonder what the group sing is going to be like tonight. I'm hoping for more Hot N Cold greatest! There were over 31 million votes. Cue dramatic recap of last night. Yawn.
It's T-R-O-U-B-L-E! What is up with the damn lip-syncing?!?!?! I HATE IT!!! One word: disappointing.
We're back from break. It's time for the Ford commercial and it's a water balloon fight. We get to see the goodbye dinner for Jorge and Jasmine and it's making me cry. For the second week in a row, Michael gets extra pimping time to remind us that he has a little girl at home that misses him.
Ryan asks Danny to stand and he is safe. Lil is next and she is safe. It's Anoop's turn and he is safe. Anoop!!!! Allison and Michael are both asked to stand. After the recap of last night, Allison is in the bottom three and Michael is also in the bottom three. I think it's Michael getting the big boot.
This is taking forever.
Brad Paisley is singing now.
I'm going to take a nap.
Brad has some funky ears!
OH!! It was part of hear-aid thingies he was wearing. And, NO, I wasn't talking about the really big part IN his ear.
Back to finding the third one to fill out the bottom three. Scott is up next and is safe. Megan is up next and gets a big yell from the crowd. She's safe. VFTW is VERY happy. Matt is up and back down because he's safe. Kris gets his turn to stand and he's on the tour. It's down to Alexis and Adam. After the recaps, it's Alexis that joins the other two in the bottom and the AWESOME Adam is safe and on tour! You can celebrate on the west coast!!!
Ryan calls the bottom three to the middle and sends Allison back to the couch! YAY! She's safe and on the tour. Michael and Alexis get to sweat it out during a commercial break and the Randy and Carrie duet at a minimum.
I don't think they put a mirror in Carrie's dressing room because I don't know why she wore that dress and what's up with her hair? It was pretty good but it's one of my favorite songs so it would have to be pretty bad for me not to like it. There is one thing that's bothering me. It really shouldn't have been called a duet because it was more like "I Told You So by Carrie Underwood featuring Randy Travis".
We find out that the judges would considering using their Save to save one of the two in the bottom. I think that's kinda sucky that they said that. No matter what the judges do, one person is going to know they weren't worthy of saving.
Ryan tells us that Michael is safe!! No way!!! Alexis is on the chopping block!!! Simon is thinking about saving her. She is singing for her life while the judges talk. No pressure, Alexis.
She did better last night.
The judges are not going to save her.
Michael should have gone home.
What do you think?
The Pres is going to be on TV next Tuesday so Idol will be on Wednesday and Thursday again. I PROMISE that I will NOT play poker that night! Scouts honor!

Happy St. Patrick's day everyone! I actually did a report on St. Patrick in college but can't remember anything interesting to tell you...sorry!
As many of you may already know, tonight is Grand Ole Opry night on Idol. Unless Anoop pulls something fantastic out of his butt, he'll be going home tomorrow. We also know that Danny, Lil, Scott and Adam have nothing to worry about this stage of the game. That leaves everyone else fighting to stay in the Mansion. This should be interesting!!
Oh hell! They're introducing the judges the same way they did last time. Okay, that's already old. Ryan wishing everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day and then says something that everyone in the viewing audience already knows "After a few pint, this show might REALLY get good tonight." Most of us have already had a few pints, Ryan.
Randy Travis in the house! I saw him in concert a few years ago and he was still pretty good. He thinks the kids are a strong group.
They are messing with me tonight by not introducing the kids and just heading right into Michael. I'll have to post the names and numbers below when I get them.
Michael Sarver - 1-866-436-5701 (text "Vote" 5701)

Michael - Ain't going down till the sun comes up
Michael is taking on a VERY fast song. I sang this once at Karaoke on a dare and could barely breath afterwards. It was not a good choice for him. Its a fast song, full of energy and Michael seemed to be in slow motion. I've seen Garth do this in concert and he is all over the stage and back many times. Michael barely makes it out to the audience and back before the songs over. He also messed up the lyrics in a few spots. He is in trouble. Randy calls it a fun song choice but said it didn't do anything vocally. Kara says we got to see a lot of his personality but she misses the big notes from him. Michael says country is about having fun. Yes, Michael, it is but you just didn't seem to be having it fast enough. Paula thinks he made us have fun. Boy, they are really pumping him up. Simon says it should have been good but he couldn't understand a single word. He calls it clumsy and Karaoke. Simon has it right.
Allison - Blame it on your heart
Randy thinks that Allison will do a good job any just about anything she wants to sing but thinks she shouldn't dance. I concur! Well, she didn't do the stupid dance move which was good. I really like her but I didn't love her doing this song. I think she sounded better in the video package. The audience seems to love it. Kara thinks she could sing the alphabet and she's getting better and better. Paula calls it rock solid and babbles for a bit. Simon calls it good. Randy thought it was dope.
Kris - To make you feel my love
Another Garth song. And I thought it was going to be a Carrie Underwood night. He impressed Randy. He was okay. Nothing to exciting. I think I would have liked it more if he skipped the falsetto at the end. Paula says she was pleasantly surprised. Simon thought it was terrific. WOW! High praise from Simon. Randy says he took a chance and it paid off with tender moments. Kara didn't even think it was country.
Lil - Independence Day
She gets some chair time with Ryan. She is wearing a dinner napkin dress. Randy says "She has big pipes on the top end." BAWWAHAHA!! That was funny! Get it...Big Pipes! LOL! I said it before and I'll say it again, Lil can sing but she's just not my cup of tea. I will say that she seemed a half a beat behind in the beginning and there was no need for that run at the end. I'm sure she's safe for a while. Randy says it didn't feel comfortable. Kara doesn't call it her best. Paula likes her dress. Simon calls her little over and over again. He says it seemed like she was forced to sing the song. Lil talks way too much.
Adam - Ring of Fire
Johnny Cash rocks! I read a spoiler that said this was really good. Adam get to chat with Ryan too. Adam scares Randy. I think I'm going to need a minute after that. Word escape me. It was definitely all Adam and no Grand Old Opry. Some of the notes he hit were amazing. I do think that this may have actually been too way over the top. I'm going to watch it again real quick. WOW!!! I don't think Idol has EVER seen anyone even remotely close to Adam. He is one of a kind. Kara calls it a little strange but she liked it. It left her confused and sort of happy. THAT'S IT! Confused and happy! Paula thinks he is true to who he is as an artist. Simon says "What the hell was that?" and calls it rubbish. Randy calls it current, young, fresh and hot. Adam has no plans to go to Nashville. Randy is still speechless.
Scott - Wild Angels
Scott impressed Randy. Oh look, he's playing the piano again. It was another "Up with People" song for Scott complete with yucky falsetto. Beckeye is right, if he wasn't blind, he wouldn't be here. I think she said something like that. Paula calls it impressive and lovely.
Wait!! The bagpipers are coming by my apartment again. This is the third time I've heard and seen them tonight. I don't remember this happening last year. It's awesome!
Simon calls Paula stupid. Simon thinks that Scott's song choices are the same each week. Randy is looking for hot vocals. Kara wants Scott to WOW us. I just want him to wear sunglasses.
Alexis - Jolene
Alexis is doing Dolly! Randy thinks Dolly would be proud. She does kind of look like Dolly. She's Dolly's mini-me!! I'm not that thrilled with what she just did. She changed the song just enough to annoy and not enough to make it her own. I'm disappointed with her tonight. Randy says it had a bunch of pitch problems. Kara thinks she lost her edge. Paula thinks she told a story. Simon thought it was okay and forgettable. All the dirty talk is getting old too.
Danny - Jesus, take the wheel
Randy made Danny nervous. Well, I still don't like him. I don't know what he needs to do to wipe away the smarmy that I feel when I look at him but that wasn't it. It was a good vocal. I know many people loved it but not me. To me, he is this year's David Archeletta...the chosen one. I'm sure the judges will love it. Kara didn't like the front half. Paula thinks he built a story. Simon doesn't like his outfit. Randy wants him to support the verses better.
Anoop - Always on my mind
How tall is Anoop? Randy calls it Anoop's best. Yay for Anoop for resisting the urge to do falsetto at the end. I thought for sure it was coming. He did an excellent job. Will I buy the song tomorrow? No, but then I think I'm only getting Adam's song tomorrow. Everything tonight had been too much like the original for me to part with 99cents. Paula says Anoop is back. They need to cut Paula off. She is babbling way too much tonight. Simon says he went from zero to hero and calls it one of his favorites of the night. Randy says something and Kara calls it the best of the night. Who knew?!?! I had to change the title of the blog.
Megan - Walking after midnight
She's in the same spot she was last week. She is the VFTW pick still. Let's hope she earns the honor tonight as well as she did last week. Do you think we'll get another "CAW" at the end?? Can I just say WOW!! That dress accentuates the twins! Lordy mama! That was very odd and different but I don't think in a good way. The phrasing was off and not enojyable. Randy was impressed and calls it a perfect choice. Kara says perfect song and perfect outfit. Megan has the flu. Paula calls her a fighter. Simon thinks she should have the flu every week.
Matt - So Small
Another Carrie Underwood song. He was kind of hard to understand at times. "Sucked" instead of "Shut" for example. It was just alright for me. The audience seemed to love it or maybe they're just happy he's the last one...I know I am. Man, it was a long night! Kara says there's nothing small about him and calls him amazing. Paula says he pierced her heart. Simon thinks Matt out sang Danny. Randy calls it his favorite of the night.
Well, that's it. I think Michael (not Matt), Allison and Megan are in trouble. What do you think?
It's time for Idol to really start now. Normally, I already have a favorite but not this year. Most of the kids we've only seen once. Hard to become a fan with only 1 1/2 minutes of singing. Anywho, on with the show!
Ryan start off standing on top of the "Big Stage" and then something strange happens. Announcer dude introduces the judges who then walk across the stage, down the stairs, and up to their seats while stairs magically appear for Ryan to walk down from the top of the stage. That must have cost some money.
After Ryan talks to the judges, he introduces the kids. This is normally the order they perform in but this show is different this year so that may not be the case.
OH! Did you hear about the 5700 and 5713 phone numbers? They both go to phone sex lines!
Anyway, here's the order:
Lil Rounds - 1-866-436-5701 (text "Vote" 5701)
Scott MacIntyre (and his cute brother) 1-866-436-5702 (text "Vote" 5702)
Danny Gokey 1-866-436-5703 (text "Vote" 5703)
Michael Sarver 1-866-436-5704 (text "Vote" 5704)
Jasmine Murray 1-866-436-5705 (text "Vote" 5705)
Kris Allen 1-866-436-5706 (text "Vote" 5706)
Allison Iraheta 1-866-436-5707 (text "Vote" 5707)
Anoop Desai 1-866-436-5708 (text "Vote" 5708)
Jorge Nunez 1-866-436-5709 (text "Vote" 5709)
Megan Joy Corkrey (what is with the Joy" BTW?) 1-866-436-5710 (text "Vote" 5710)
Adam Lambert (Go Adam!!) 1-866-436-5711 (text "Vote" 5711)
Matt Giraud 1-866-436-5712 (text "Vote" 5712)
Alexis Grace 1-886-436-5736 (text "Vote" 5736) - I guess they had to go all the way to 36 to find a free line.
If this order is right, then I'm very happy! The front end seems to be loaded with the pimped ones. America seems to forget those who go first.
Simon tells us that 2 people go home tomorrow. Can I just say what the hell was the reason for picking 13 then? If you knew you were kicking two people off this week, why bother with the 13? Well, I vote for Jasmine and Megan to go home since I don't think they should be there anyway.
This week's theme is Michael Jackson. I can only hope for a "Thriller" group dance tomorrow!! That would be awesome.
Lil Rounds get some pimpage and we get reminded about the tornado. She's doing "The Way You Make Me Feel". The mosh pit in front of the stage is gone and seems to have been replaced by a giant video screen but I'm not too sure. Well, Lil was good but she is just not my cup of tea. I really didn't like the top she was wearing with that huge ruffle on one shoulder. I'm sure the judges will love her. Randy says AGAIN "This is the way we kick off season 8!" How many times is he going to say that? Kara says Lil set the standard high. Paula calls her a force to be reckoned with. Simon was a little but disappointed and he hates what she is wearing. Damn, Simon agrees with me.
Scott MacIntyre's whole family is musical. He is singing "Keep the Faith". I definitely liked that better than Lil. Was it spectacular? No, but it was decent. I think it was MP that said he should wear shades and I think she's right. Scott is hard to watch at times. Kara is glad that we get to see him with his piano. Paula says it's magical. Simon hated the song because no one knew the song. Randy says it felt safe and old fashioned.
Danny Gokey's video package just annoyed me. He's singing "PYT". Darn, I was hoping that Adam would do that. The beginning was terrible! I'm not sure what he was thinking with that. I have to say that I think he rocked the rest of the song. It pains me to say it but I have to call him the best so far. Paula almost cried. Simon thinks the vocals were brilliant however the dancing was hideous. Randy says "when you got it, you just got it." Kara thinks he has joy.
Michael Sarver was an oil rigger, did you know that? He's singing "You're Not Alone". WOW! That was a million times better then what he did in the semi-finals! I will say that I didn't like it enough to buy it tomorrow but he was good. I think he will be safe tonight. Simon says he had passion and heart and gave it 110%. Randy is happy for him. Kara thinks he really can sing and that he did a great job. Paula calls him a regular guy that has talent.
I'm hating Paula top tonight as well. It looks like she has part of chicken tied to her.
I wonder if anyone is going to sing "Ben". Did you see that movie? If you haven't, I'm going to spoil it for you. Ben is a rat! A diseased rat.
Jasmine Murray gets chair time with Ryan and talks about shopping. Jasmine has a cute family. She's singing "I'll Be There". She's a really good singer but there's nothing behind it. Or maybe it's the sing-smiling that I don't like. Randy says she did a pretty good job. Kara thinks she sold it. Paula thinks she had some bright moments and had some under moments as well. Simon calls it a little bit robotic and she needs to start acting her age. Maybe that's why she bugs me.
Kris Allen is married. He is singing "Remember The TIme". I think the first half was way better than the second half but he did really well. The guitar did seem like more of a prop than a part of the music. All of them are doing much better tonight then they did in the semi-finals. Kara says the girls love Kris. Kara like instruments. Paula says that Simon is trying to undress her. She also calls Kris adorable-sexy. Simon calls him likeable and thinks that he should have kept the wife hidden. Randy calls it very cool.
Allison Iraheta sings at a flea market. She is singing "Give It To Me". THAT was awesome! That's my kind of music! I'm getting this one tomorrow. Jasmine needs to take lesson from Allison because that's how you put emotion behind a song. She's my favorite of the night so far! Paula says OMG she's 16!!!! Simon calls it a good performance and we know who she is. Randy says "if you got it, you got it." He's got to get some more lines. Kara tells her to keep being a rocker girl. Yes!!
Is that Brooke White in the DSW commercial?
Anoop Desai in the house!! He's got a new hair cut. He's singing "Beat It". I wanted to love it but I don't think it was a good song choice for him. On a night when everyone brought their A game, Anoop faltered. I also think he messed up a few of the words. Paula thinks it was a bad choice of song and that it sounded Karaoke. Simon thought it was horrible, lightweight and stupid. Randy calls it the wrong choice. Kara thinks it was disconnected. He needs a little bit of help tonight. Maybe VFTW will pick him.
I just tried to check VFTW and it is so busy that the page won't display.
Ryan's mom and grandma are in the house.
Jorge Nunez is from Puerto Rico. Jorge's family is HUGE! He's singing "Never Can Say Goodbye". His eyebrows are still pretty big but I think they're small then the last time we saw them...er, I mean HIM. He can sing but it was boring. I don't think he brought anything new to the table. Randy calls it old fashioned and would have picked a different song. Kara didn't feel the emotion. Paula has mad love for him and asked him why he picked that song. I'm not sure what he said but it doesn't seem like he had much of a choice. Simon calls it corny and old fashioned.
Megan Joy Corkrey and her big tattoo are next up. She is singing "Rockin' Robin". Oh boy. OMG! That was a complete MESS. She "CAW"ed at the end! Her dancing was awful, her singing was bad and she better be out of there tomorrow. I have a feeling that she will be the VFTW pick. That was truly hideous. Kara thinks that she put "her" touch on the song. Paula felt disconnected. Simon called it a stupid song choice and the dancing was ridiculous. Randy calls it a bad song choice. Gordon Ramsey is asked what he thought but he doesn't have a mic so we have no clue what he said.
Adam Lambert has some hot pics floating around the internet (I hope they don't hurt his chances). He is singing "Black and White" This should be good. And it was!!! For the first time tonight, I'm smiling and happy. Until now, I was thinking "Man, I really don't want to blog about this any more." Adam brought me back from the edge! Best performance of the night in my book. Followed by Allison in second place. I don't really care about the rest. Paula tells Adam to take it all in! She babbles on too much for me and she nearly cries. Simon says it was in a totally different league then anything they've seen tonight!!! Randy adds that he is the most current contestant. Kara hopes that MJ is watching tonight. I'm buying this one tomorrow too!
Megan Joy got the VFTW vote.
Matt Giraud looks like his dad. He's singing "Human Nature". I'm not sure if I would have picked that one. He's playing the piano, that might be okay. Too much falsetto for me but he was okay. It's hard to follow Adam. Randy calls it really good. Kara thinks he's talented. Paula is blown away. Simon calls it very good and solid. Compared to the critics for Adam, the judges barely acknowledged Matt.
Alexis Grace has the pimp spot tonight. Her little girl is cute. She's singing "Dirty Diana". I love it! I love her bluesy take on songs and this one is no exception. I think I may have to get this one too. She's got a great looks as well. Great song choice. Kara calls her a naughty girl. Paula tells her to watch her over singing. Simon calls it over the top and not as good as she thinks it was. Randy thought it was good. I don't care what the judges say, I loved it!
Tomorrow night there is a change to the rules but we will have to wait until tomorrow to find out.
I think Megan and Anoop will be heading home tomorrow but I would really like it to be Megan and Jasmine. Come on America! Give Anoop another chance!
What did you think?

It begins as normal with Ryan overstating the importance of everything.
The eight will perform and then the judges pick who moves on.
The kids tonight are:
Jesse Langseth
Matt Giraud
Megan Joy Corkey
Von Smith
Jasmine Murray
Ricky Braddy
Tatiana Del Toro
Anoop Desai
Alright!! Anoop gets the pimp spot!!!
Jesse - Tell Me Something Good
I can't really remember how she did last time but she isn't too bad this time. My husband thinks she should pack her bags. Randy doesn't think she sung it that well. Kara uses the word of the season: swagger. Paula is impressed with her determination and thinks she is unique. Simon tells her that she was a lot better than the first time.
Matt - Who's Loving You
He is doing WORLDS better than last time! Right now, I hope they pick him. I like the bluesy feel. Hubby think he was pretty good. Kara thanks him for bring back the bluesy singing. Paula thinks he did an amazing job. Simon calls it a billion times better than last time. Randy says that was hot.
Megan - Black Horse and the Cherry Tree
She seems a little off. I still don't like her dance moves. I don't think she should go through. Hubby doesn't think she's very good either. He likes her better from a distance because he says "she dances like me." Paula blabs on and really doesn't say anything. Simon calls her current. Randy kisses her ass as well. Kara thinks they need her. Damn! She's going through.
Von - Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word
He starts out bad. Hubby doesn't like him at all. See ya Von! I liked you for a little while. Simon says it didn't start very well and says he's becoming boring. Randy isn't crazy about the song. Kara thinks it got dark. Paula talks about soaring. Like I said, see ya!
Jasmine - Reflection
Boring (hubby thinks so too). Cute dress. Randy says she was better than last time. Kara is confused. That's Paula's job, Kara. Paula calls her determined. Simon calls it pretty special. Paula and Simon fight.
Ricky - Superstition
I liked him better last time but this isn't bad. Hubby thinks it was just okay. Kara think he can sing his butt off. Paula loved the way he loosened up. Simon calls it lightweight and clumsy. Randy thinks he has a voice but it wasn't a good song for him.
Tatiana -Saving All My Love For You
This isn't a good choice for her. The low part in the beginning is a little too low for her. Hubby thinks she's good. Paula comments on her all-the-sudden accent. Simon slams her for picking the same song. Randy calls her a mixed bag of tricks. Kara calls it the "Adventures of Tatiana".
Anoop - My Prerogative
I thought that was fantastic. Hubby thinks he rocked and something else that I'm not going to type here. I'm not sure if that was what the judges were looking for but I sure enjoyed it. He was the only one that I didn't type during. Simon calls it a strange night. He doesn't think that Anoop was the best vocal but people like him. Randy thinks he did better this time. Kara says it was the best he's ever done it. Paula says he's a showman and says everyone loved it. I agree!
Now for the moment of truth. Who makes it and who goes home.
Jasmine is called up and is told that she made it. She sucked!!!!!!!! YUCK! Why did we even bother with the competition?!
Ricky goes home. YUCK!!
Megan and Tatiana are brought up together. Megan made it and Tatiana is going home. Megan sucked. Again, why did we bother with the competition. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge Tatianna fan but Ricky should have made it over Megan. I think most of you would agree with that.
We have four people left and only one spot. It better be Anoop's! But what about Matt??? This sucks! I am not happy.
Jesse is told she is going home.
Von is going home.
It's down to Anoop and Matt. Matt made it. And so did Anoop. It's a top 13 this year. Many people on the net predicted that.
Well, that's it America, you're top 13.
Megan and Jasmine lucked out, they should NOT have made it.
What say you?
Welcome one and all to the second group of Idol semi-finalists! The odds are very good that this show will be better than last week. Do I have any inside information you might ask? Why no I don't but last week was so bad that it can only get better.
I'd like to give a special shout out to the people joining us from the West Coast cheering on your boy Adam! Rhonda was a sweetie and posted a link to this blog for all of her friends that can't wait until the West Coast replay. I will be posting at commercial breaks so refreshing the page every ten or so minutes should do the trick. I will include the numbers so you'll be ready to vote as soon as possible.
For those of you on the West Coast that DO NOT want to find out what happens, run away, run away now. But come back tomorrow to find out what I thought.
Here's something for you to watch in the meantime! Enjoy!
HA HA!!!
Ryan starts the show as usual by talking with the judges. The three winners from last week are in the house. The judges switched seats this week.
On deck tonight:
Jasmine Murray - 1-866-436-5701 (text "Vote" to 5701)
Matt Giraud - 1-866-436-5702 (text "Vote" to 5702)
Jeanine Vailes - 1-866-436-5703 (text "Vote" to 5703)
Nick Mitchell (Go Normund Gentle!!) - 1-866-436-5704 (text "Vote" to 5704)
Allison Iraheta - 1-866-436-5705 (text "Vote" to 5705)
Kris Allen - 1-866-436-5706 (text "Vote" to 5706)
Megan Corkrey - 1-866-436-5707 (text "Vote" to 5707)
Matt Breitzke - 1-866-436-5708 (text "Vote" to 5708)
Jesse Langseth - 1-866-436-5709 (text "Vote" to 5709)
Kai Kalama - 1-866-436-5710 (text "Vote" to 5710)
Mishavonna Henson - 1-866-436-5711 (text "Vote" to 5711)
Adam Lambert (GO ADAM!!!!!) - 1-866-436-5712 (text "Vote" to 5712)
Adam got the pimp spot! AWESOME!!!
Jasmine Murray - Love Song - 1-866-436-5701
She was in the diva group with Bikini Girl during Hollywood week. She was the only one that made it from her group. Well, I'm not really sure what to say about that. She started off too slow and the she kept fading in and out during the entire song. I think she's singing into the mic wrong. It's almost like she was dropping the mic so that it wasn't really picking up the sound. It was almost like a cruise ship or hotel bar version of the song. I'm not impressed and going first is not going to help her any. Randy says it was pitchy and weird. Kara says it was all over the place. Paula agrees with what Randy and Kara said but says her confidence was great. Simon was disappointed and thinks she's a couple of years early.
Matt Giraud - Viva La Vida - 1-866-436-5702
He's a dueling piano player. If I had to describe Matt's performance in one word, that word would be manic. He just seemed so jumpy and like he was trying too hard. He did do better than Jasmine based on sound quality alone. I don't know, I think I'm going to start blaming it on the invisible band that is sounding an awful lot like Muzak. Kara says she was not blown away and that it was a bad song choice. Paula calls it a risky song but doesn't think it was right. Simon says it was verging on a horrible performance. Randy agrees with Simon but is still pulling for him.
Jeanine Vailes - This Love - 1-866-436-5703
We haven't seen much of her. Now is her chance to shine! Hey! She's from DC! She'll get a few votes for her legs (and her short shorts). I think it's the sound that's throwing me off. It sounded like this girl could sing but this song with either a bad choice or the arrangement was bad. I'm not sure which. Maybe the judges can figure it out for me. Paula starts off by telling her she has great legs. Simon thinks is terrible and says that it was a bad song choice but she does have very good legs. Randy says the legs are hot and it was the wrong song. Kara says it was so over done and wrong. They judges think she blew her chance.
HEY! No parents tonight. I wonder why?
Nick Mitchell (Go Normund Gentle!!) - And I'm Telling You - 1-866-436-5704
Will it be Nick? Will it be Normund? "Tonight is like the opening ceremonies of the Olympics." I love Nick! OMG! The was AWESOME!! I love this guy! Not only was it the best vocal of the night it was the most entertaining performance in Idol history! AWESOME!!!!! AWESOME!!!! AWESOME!!! He used the entire stage, sang to the audience, gave a shout out to Doogie, took off clothes and got a standing ovation! Simon says he prays that he doesn't make it and calls it horrific comedy. Normund pipes back "It takes one to know one, sassy pants!" LOL!! Randy says it was one of the most entertaining performances ever and calls it funny. Kara says he wears the same shirt like Simon and says he's not a terrible singer. Paula calls him a true performer and fun. I call it a big bag of awesome!
Allison Iraheta - Alone - 1-866-436-5705
She reminds me of Hannah Montana...very annoying. But, damn, the girl can sing. Best of the night. Now that's how it's done boys and girls. She rocked it out and sounded fantastic. Despite the Hannah Montana thing, I like this one. Randy says she blew it out da' box, one of the hottest tonight. Kara calls her great. Paula pulls out the "sing the telephone book" comment and tells her she is the best tonight. Simon says she's the best tonight by a clear mile and calls her one to watch. I concur!
Kris Allen - Man in the Mirror - 1-866-436-5706
We haven't seen much of him either. He's a cutie. He starts off a little too low but he's not bad. I think he could have picked a better song. What's up with the song choices this season? They could pick any song every written and we get these songs? Whatever. Kara calls the front rough but the back was better but still not as good as Hollywood week. Paula thinks he showed his personality and he nailed it. Simon agrees with Paula and she kisses him. Simon says he looked good and the chicks are going to vote for him. Randy is proud of him. Maybe Kara and I are wrong?
Ryan pimps iTunes again.
Megan Corkrey - Put Your Record On - 1-866-436-5707
WOW! She has a large tattoo on her arm. I agree with Ian, that is not pretty. Oh, something else Ian will love, the pimping of the kid to get votes. She got attacked by a crimping iron. Well, maybe her hair isn't that bad but her performance was. I don't think that's the song you sing when you want to show off how good your voice is and it did nothing to help Megan. She did this distracting hip swivel dance move that you have to see to understand. I had high hopes for her. Paula says she picked the right song and says she did everything right. Simon calls her a funny little thing and says she over sang parts. Randy calls her interesting "with this whole kinda voice thing". Does anyone out there speak Randy? I don't. Kara says she stands out. I guess it was just me.
(Sorry for the delay, I have a cold and I needed to make some tea.)
Matt Breitzke - If you could only see - 1-866-436-5708
In case you've forgotten, he's the welder not to be confused with the oil rigger (who got through last week for some unknown reason). I love this song. He did okay. He did this kinda slow motion dancing at the beginning that was a bit distracting but, other than that, it was fine. He did not melt me and he should have with that song. I still think he'll give Nick a run for his money. Simon really like him but hated that song. Randy calls the performance boring. Kara says it fell flat. Paula says the song did not celebrate what everyone fell in love with in Hollywood.
Jesse Langseth - Betty Davis Eyes - 1-866-436-5709
She's a single mom. I liked it. She different which can either be a good thing or the kiss of death. It's hard to tell what the audience wants from year to year. I do know that her brother is somewhat famous in the Jazz world. Why he couldn't get her the break she needs is a mystery to me. Randy says it was okay and cool but not exciting. (She talking too much during the judges time. Shut up!!!) Kara says the look is good and she took some risks and it had some moments. (She needs to shut up!) Paula finds her captivating and cool. Simon says she is forgettable and that it was too cool for school.
Kai Kalama - What Becomes of the Broken Hearted - 1-866-436-5710
He's the one that takes care of his mom. I'm sorry but I did not like that. It was corny and the performance was creepy and had a sleazy feeling to it. His look was bad and not right for the song. He also made the "prayer" sign when he sang the word pray, that's never a good thing to do unless it's a group sing. He REALLY needed to be wearing a hat. Kara thinks he had some pitch issues but he gave it his all. Paula says he fell off pitch a little. Simon calls it old fashioned and corny (YES!). Randy says it was sooo safe but not what he's looking for.
Mishavonna Henson -Drop of Jupiter - 1-866-436-5711
Made it to Hollywood in season 7 but got cut. I liked it. It's a good song and she sang it well. I think she's going to give Allison Iraheta a run for her money. I think it's tied between the two of them for top girl of the night. However, the tie goes to the one that's cuter and that would be Allison...by a nose. Paula says it didn't excite her. Simon says it's a great song and a good singer but something left him cold. "I don't know what a Drop of Jupiter is", too funny, Simon. Randy doesn't like solo singers singing band songs. Kara wants her to loosen up.
Adam Lambert (GO ADAM!!!!!) - Satisfaction - 1-866-436-5712
I have a tenuous connection to Adam. I friend of mine, Rhonda, knows him. Her daughter is in the same theater group as Adam (Rhonda, correct me if I'm wrong). It started out a bit strange to me but, once he got going, everything fell into place. The boy can sing. You can also see his music theater background. I'm not sure if that's going to help him or hurt him at this point. One good thing, he was the best guy of the night vocally and only second to Normund in entertainment value. Paula thinks she's watching an Adam Lambert concert. Simon says that there are parts that were bad but parts that were brilliant. Randy loved it and called it da' bomb! Kara calls his vocal technique crazy, in a good way.
I'm not sure if tonight was better than last week but I would say that the stand outs were Allison, Nick/Normund and Adam. Those are my picks to make it!
Who are your picks?
It's the first results show of the season and it's an hour long...oh boy. I'm so excited about it that I don't think I can contain myself...yippee...jumping for joy...*snore* Sorry! I'll try to stay awake.
As far as I know, three things are going to happen tonight. Ryan will drag this out as long as possible, 3 contestants move on while the rest will be trapped in limbo, and Michael and Carly will duet on national TV. As for the rest of the show, who knows. If anything exciting happens, I'll let you know.
Ryan does the normal overly dramatic intro while the poor kids stand there awaiting their fate. He tells us that 24 million votes came in last night. Here are your judges blah, blah, blah. Paula's wig looks better tonight. The frizz seems to be gone.
Group sing time!!!!! Boy I missed these! I mean it! The song is "I'm Yours". Not bad for the first sing. Some of the faces were a bit too much. Sorry Ian, I'm glad that Jackie will be leaving tonight. Her faces were some of the worst.
Highlights from last night in case someone is suffering from short-term memory loss. Ryan's voice-over during the highlight tape: "It was Tatiana that turned the night around"WTF?? She went second to last. I think everyone's been drinking out of Paula's cup.
Casey is up first and then down again just that quick! See ya cutie!
Stephen is second and his dreams are crushed. Keep at it! I think you've got an excellent voice. I think you'll be back in the wild card round.
Alexis makes it to the top 12 and get to sit on one of the silver chairs. YAY!!! And she gets to sing! That's new and a good idea. I always thought it was mean to have the booted people sing right after their dreams are crushed.
Ricky and Jackie are up together and they are both out.
Anoop and Michael are next. OMG!!! Michael made it!!! We will see Anoop in the wild card round. That was so not right! Michael sucked last night...and tonight. Oh well. He doesn't have a chance in hell of winning.
Well, it's 8:34 and we already have two of the three spots filled. One by Alexis which was a no-brainer and one by Michael. Everyone knows that Danny is a no-brainer as well. But, if that is the case, why didn't they do him now and wait to reveal the third spot at the end of the show. Is something up or are they trying to make us THINK that something is up when nothing really is. Damn those Idol People! WHY DO THEY TORMENT ME SO?!?!
Time for the American Idol Experience plug. Next time I go to Disney World, I am SO doing that! Unless I'm too old like I am for real American Idol.
Ha ha! Ryan called down the next two contestants and down come Michael Johns and Carly Smithson. I think they let Carly do her own make-up...scary!!! They are singing one of my favorite songs, "The Letter". Sorry Becky but Joe Cocker is better. I do have to point out the both Carly and Michael are better than anyone that sang last night.
I would like to take a moment to say that I think this whole back-combing of the hair thing that's big now needs to go away. I think Kara is the only woman on Idol that doesn't have her hair back-combed. You know, back in the sixties they called is teasing. On the other hand, I could just be jealous because I can do it to my hair and make it look good.
Anne Marie stands up.
Brent stand up.
Stevie stands up and Ryan knocks all three of them down with one shot.
Tatiana and Danny and called out to the middle. Tatiana looks like she is going to faint. I would LOVE it if Tatiana made it and Danny didn't. Paula says Danny should make it. We won't find out until after the break. Damn you Ryan!!! *shaking fist in the air*
Of course, Danny makes it.
Up next week are:
Megan Corkrey
Kris Allen
Mishavonna Henson
Matt Breitzke
Allison Iraheta
Matt Giraud
Jasmine Murray
Kai Kalama
Jesse Langseth
Adam Lambert (GO ADAM!!!!!)
Jeanine Vailes
Nick Mitchell (Go Norman Gentle!!)
Until then, keep you feet on the ground and....yeah, whatever.
Blog title by Danny: "I Just Want To Find Out"
And so...it begins!
I have just completed downloading Skype which works with DialIdol so I am ready to power vote. Who I will vote for remains to be seen. If someone doesn't blow me away, I'm going to be a Worster so that means Tatianna will begetting my votes. Come on kids! BLOW ME AWAY...PLEASE!!!
I'm watching on the east coast so, if you're on the west (Rodilyn), DON'T READ ANYMORE!
OMG! It's less than one minute into the show and Tatianna is already on my nerves! Did you see her nodding her head to everything Ryan was saying? I wonder if this girl has any friends in real life.
The judges are lined up differently this year. From right to left it's Randy, Kara, Paula, and Simon. It use to be the other way around (minus Kara). Ryan spends time talking to the judges. Randy says that this is it and you have to be in it to win it. Ryan asks Kara about contestant nerves. How would she know? She says she is nervous. Paula tells them to make magic happen between mumbling. Simon tells the contestants they have one shot and the odds are stacked against them. Simon then mentions that he likes Ryan's new hair. IDK, I liked the old color better.
Ryan explains this goofy new set up. Let me see if I can sum it up. The 36 semi-finalist are divided into three groups of 12. Each week, one group of 12 performs for votes. The highest vote-getting guy and the highest vote-getting girl along with the next highest vote-getter fill out 9 of the 12 seats for the finals. The fourth week is wild card week for the last three spots. Got it? Good!
Theme for tonight: Hits from the Billboard Hot 100 since the charts began
Jackie Tohn - A Little Less Conversation
Jackie was the one who had the wall fall during her audition.
Where do I start? First, not a good song choice. It really did nothing to showcase her voice. The phrasing was weird and not in a good way. Now, let's talk about her outfit. OMG! WHAT IN THE HELL WAS SHE THINKING?!?!?!!? She is wearing and white with black polka dots tube top thing with black, shiny stretch pants, and a red leather bow-type belt that is about 6 inches wide. She looks a mess! She dances odd and doesn't look at all cute doing it. Her outfit combined with poor song choice and going first spells doom for Miss Jackie. Randy wasn't blown away but calls her a good entertainer. Kara says she can work a stage. Paula calls her a true performer. Simon says she played a clown and doesn't like it or what she's wearing.
HEY! They have her parents in the red room! That's new. Great, just what we needed for this show, more filler! YUCK! I'll give it a chance tonight but it doesn't look good.
Ricky Braddy - song for u
Anyone that has read my AI blogs in the past knows how I feel about Elliott from Season 5 but for those of you that are new, I LOVED Elliott! I think that no one else should be allowed to sing any of the songs he sang on the show. With that said, Elliott sang this song so I don't have high hopes for Ricky, sorry. Ryan chats with him about the dead-end job he quit for Idol. He's kinda cute. Too bad he's not going to make it past tonight. He is a blinker! Poor guy! I'm not fond of the 1970's shiny mic they are using tonight. Distracting. He wasn't too bad. I still like Elliott's version better but he wasn't bad. He WAS better than Jackie. Randy calls THIS the start of Season 8. Kara says he killed it. Paula mentioned that he wasn't featured before. Simon calls it very good but he doesn't think he has star quality.
Alexis Grace - never loved a man
Guess what? We get to see her baby again. Don't get me wrong, it's a cute baby but enough already. I have to say, best of the night so far! I think she's got it. She's cute, is full of personality and she can sang! I'm buying that on iTunes tomorrow. Oh! I love her pink hair! Randy says she found the dirt and he's loving her. Kara says she did a great job. Paula looks REALLY drunk tonight and she babbles. Simon calls her the best by a mile. Man, that Simon is smart!
Doogie Houser, MD and Sam Malone are in the house. Why are those two together?
Brent Keith - hick town
He has also suffered from a lack of camera time and the editing goof doesn't help matters any. Again, poor guy! He's a hottie. He didn't pick a very good song but, did I mention that he's hot? He's REALLY hot! He only got hotter when he sang. I'm voting for him in hopes of keeping some eye candy. Randy liked the country. Kara likes him too but thinks he played it safe. Paula says it was a safe song. Simon calls it forgettable. If he doesn't make it, someone in country music should snap him up.
Stevie Wright - you belong with me
She started off really bad. She's really nervous and you can hear it. She hardly moved around. I call it Karaoke. Randy calls it not hot and safe. Kara agrees with Randy. Paula agrees and says it was not the right song. Simon says it was terrible and out of tune. This is when it really sucks having the parents in the red room. I'm surprised she's not in tears.
Anoop Desai - angel of mine
I love Anoop-dog! I'm not digging the song choice. He's good and it sounds good but he should have brought the fun. I was bored. Randy says it was a little sharp but he's still a huge fan. Kara isn't sure he nailed it. Paula says that America has already connected to him so he's lucky. Simon says it was too grown-up and too serious. I agree.
Casey Carlson - every little thing she does is magic
She is WAY cute. I'm sorry BeckEye, she's not going to make it. I had to watch part of it through my fingers. It wasn't as bad as Stevie but it was a bad country version of that song. Randy says it wasn't good and weird. Kara says everything about that was wrong. Paula give her the kiss of death and calls her beautiful. Simon says she should not have been allowed to sing that song. Poor girl. That was way harsh. I think I might cry. I love her mom.
Michael Sarver - I don’t wanna be
This is another Elliott song. Sorry, Michael, I ain't gonna like it. He has a cute little girl. Two words: See ya! That wasn't good with or without the "Elliott Factor". Bye dude! Randy says it started off weird and doesn't think he performed it that well. Kara didn't think it was his best performance. Paula thinks he did a real good job. Simon says they like him and if he gets through, it's because people like him.
Anne Marie Boskovich - natural woman
It seemed too old for her. Almost like it was Marie Osmond singing this song. I didn't like it but it wasn't the worst. Randy says it wasn't the right song choice. I agree. Kara calls it old fashioned. Paula thinks she did better than Hollywood week. Simon calls her a hotel singer and not good enough.
Stephen Fowler- rock with you
Fowler-up is next. I hope he remembers his lyrics. I have a few points riding on him in the pool. He goofed up right at the start. Gotta hate that. He seems a little off in timing and key. Fowler-up was right. I have to call him the worst guy of the night, hands down. Randy wonders what's going on tonight. We all do. Kara doesn't seem like he was connected. Paula thinks he should have sang that David Cook song that he goofed up on during Hollywood week. Simon is really mean. He calls it horrible and corny. Awww! He doesn't have anyone with him, poor guy.
Tatiana Del Toro - saving all my love
In a field of girls that have done poorly, she shines but just a little. I do have to say that the girl can sing. Randy says she had some moments (she did). Kara calls her a roller coaster and tonight was reserved. Paula says she is the most talked about contestant so far. Simon calls her a drama queen and says she wants fame more than anything. Tatiana talks about marketing herself. Simon says she has to lose this demur thing because it's making his nervous (blog title). Tatiana has friends! This Tatiana is boring. She did pull out a little crazy at the end by making it seem like she was one of Jerry's kids and that only our votes would "keep her dream alive." Keep bringing the crazy, girl!
Danny Gokey - hero
Hey, his wife died. Did you know that? I've heard rumors that he is not a very nice person. His wife was nice but he wasn't. I hate this song. He is the chosen one and I have chosen not to like him. The judges are going nuts. Randy calls him the redeemer of the night. Kara calls him the hero of the night. Paula thinks he's stellar. Simon says it was good but not fantastic. I have to agree with Simon because he's not buying the hype.
DialIdol and Skype doesn't seem to be working. I have to get my votes in. I predict that Danny and Alexis will be the top girl and guy vote-getter with Tatiana bringing up the rear. There is a chance that Brent will make it instead of Tatiana so I'll leave the door open for him. Anoop, Michael and Jackie will have to come back for the wild card round.
I better go fix my dialing!
What did you think?
Welcome one and all. Tonight the top 36 is revealed to everyone that doesn't have the internet!
Normally, this is the "Elevator-O-Doom" followed by the "Chair-O-Death" show but I think they might do it differently this year. Since this is a two hour episode, I hope that we get to see each of the top 36 for more than two seconds. Just remember, the ones they show the shortest amount of time are the ones they don't want you to vote for...so I vote for them the first time on principle alone!
The show starts with the usual utterly random shots of just about everything. This time they have creepy whispering voices in the background as well. Judging from the clips they just showed, it's going to be an interesting night. On a side note, I think the new video editor has ADD.
The 54 kids are going to "The Judges Mansion". It seems that the kids are going to be sitting in a room waiting until it's their turn. They then walk through a pretty garden and down a long hallway, then turn to face the judges. The judges are sitting in big comfy chairs looking like they expect someone to feed them grapes. The kid sits and they tell them their fate...go home...or go on TV. Ryan also mentions that they may have to sing for their lives (more on that later).
First up is Anoop "Anoop-dog" Desai. According to the list that was leaked weeks ago, he made it...and he did.
Von "I can only sing really, really loud" Smith is also on the leaked list and he did in fact make it. Von's mom is happy. I like her shirt.
The sing off happens when the judges are unsure of who to pick. Ryan blames it on the contestant being so strong...okay...if that helps you sleep at night.
Cody Something or Other is next and he is asked to sing again. Alex Wagner-Trugman is on his way in the room to sing against him. Cody starts singing and he sounds pretty nervous, poor guy. Turns out that Cody and Alex became friends during Hollywood Week. After the first two notes, it's obvious to me that the list was right and Alex makes it and Cody doesn't. Yep, that's what happened.
Adam "Emo Wanna Rocker" Lambert is next and they show a TON of video of him. After some bad acting by Simon, he's safe.
After the break, it's Taylor Vaifanua's turn. OMG! She's only 17! She made it.
Jasmine Murry get zero extra TV time but she is in the top 36. I don't expect her to make the top 12. Arianna Ayesha Afsar is as told she made it in about two seconds. Beckeye's lesbian crush, Casey Carlson is in as well along with Megan Corkrey, Mishavonna Henson and Stevie Wright. I'm starting to get the feeling that the powers that be want a guy to win again this year since they just dissed six of the girls.
Joanna Pacitti, this year's plant, is getting ready to learn her fate. They show clips of her forgetting her words...a lot. Despite all that, she makes it.
After the break, we are treated to a montage of the unseen male talent and we get to hear clips of most of them singing. (I have to remember that, like life, American Idol is not fair and move on.) TK Hash, Chris Chatman and Reggi Beasley get sent home.
Kendell Beard gets extra TV time. She makes it.
Jenn Korbee and Kristin McNamara are singing to the death but not before they show footage of Jen's audition with her way cute hubby. Jenn then sings a Dixie Chick's song. She's okay. They bring Kristin in but not without showing the group day disaster...again. Kristin sings I will always love you over and over again. She sounds better and leaves the room. Paula makes some catty comment about her outfit. The judges start getting loud. The girl come back in to Kara telling Jenn she's cute and Paula telling Kristin that she has bad fashion sense. Simon gets sick of all the chatter and tells Kristin that she made it. I'm voting for her because that was WAY catty of Paula and Kara. Someone should show them a picture of what they wore on yesterday's show. Hello, Pot? Yeah, this is the Kettle. Simon then adds insult to injury by telling them that he completely disagrees and think it should be the other way around. Don't worry Kristin, sympathy votes are headed your way!
BOY! It has really started raining here. WOW! All the windows are rattling...Yikes!
Alexis Grace, aka. Single mom, finds out she made it.
Blind dude, Scott MacIntyre, gets told he has a good relationship with his instrument and he made it. I can wait to see him in a group number!! Is that bad?
Lil Rounds, who lost everything to a tornado, and her big boobs make it. For a second there, I thought I was watching Bay Watch.
Three girls that we never heard sing get the boot AND I think they were all wearing boots...odd. Frankie who is also wearing boots, get some more TV time and then up to the judges room followed by Jessica Langseth, who is not wearing boots. *cue dramatic music* There's gonna be a sing-off! Frankie needs one of those bra clasp thingies that I've seen advertised lately. Frankie sings an odd song about being old which sucked. Jessie also sings an odd song but makes it. Simon is a dick and tells Frankie and Jessie that neither one of them would have or will win. Nice.
Two people we never saw before didn't make it and now cry for the camera.
Allison Iraheta sounds a little like Miley Cyrus to me and she made it.
Are boots really THAT big now?
Widower and Gilligan are up next but not at the same time. Okay, I'll start using their real names just for you Mary Pat. Danny Gokey finds out he made it. Jamar with his skinny tie is out.
Ricky Braddy, Matt Giraud, Ju'Not Joyner, Jorge Nunez and Brent Keith all make it through. With the exception of the first guy, they have all had some camera time at some point.
Stephen Fowler (or should I say Stephen Fowler-Up) finds out that despite forgetting his lyrics, he makes it.
Nick "Norman Gentle" Mitchell is up. We are treated to a Norman Gentle greatest video hits! I can't believe he made it this far! The producers must secretly love Vote For The Worst. Nicks says he'd do anything to make it even wear a bikini like Bikini Girl. Well, at least we know HE watches the show. Norman makes it! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Vote people!!! Vote Norman!!!
Jackie Tohn finds out she in the top 36. She kinda funny. I like her.
Tatiana "Annoying Laughing Girl" Del Toro is up next and we are forced to watch her be insane. I do believe that she is mentally unstable. Paula gives her jewelry. They tell her she makes it and she breaks down. She leaves screaming and squeaking. God, I'm going to get soooo sick of that. In the holding room, no one looks very happy especially Nate.
Jackie and Nate Marshall are in a sing-off. Jackie is doing pretty good. Turns out Nate has a strong sob story. His mom is in prison. The gay boy turns up the charm and the jazz hands and gets the big "W". Go Nate!
Jeanine Vailes (whoever she is) makes it along with Kia Kalama, Ann Marie Boskovich, and Kris Allen (whoever he is).
There are two guys left, Matt Breitzke, the welder dude, and Micheal Sarver, the oil rig dude. Both make it.
There are hugs all around in the holding room.
The names in bold are the top 36 who we will be voting on next week!!
Blog title by Kara: "While You Have A Good Voice, I Think That's Ultimately Going To Hold You Back" Cryptic much, Kara?
The end of Hollywood week is close at hand but there are still more tears to shed so let's get on with it!
Ryan recaps the madness that was Group Day!!! That was awesome.
During this show, the contestants get to perform with a band, back-up singers, and playing an instrument if they want to. Can I just say, What the heel is Kara wearing? It looks like something that Paula would have worn in one of her videos from back in the day. They only thing she's missing are the lace, fingerless gloves. And Ryan is dressed like Mister Rogers.
The show is a mix of cuts of the judges sorting through pictures making the cuts, the kids performing, and the kids waiting. It was kinda annoying trying to blog. It won't be the first time this year that an Idol episode annoys me or the last.
The first "guy" up for the day is Adam and he slows down a Cher song. Interesting. He makes noise when he breathes in and it's a little distracting. I think his performance is a little over the top and theatrical.
Matt is next and playing the keyboard to "Georgia" and I LIKE THIS GUY! I'll have to keep my eye on this guy! He gets a standing-O from everyone but Simon, of course.
Guess what, we get to see the Widower and his little buddy again. I am shocked. Gillian is up first and he isn't as good as the others we've seen so far. Paula and Kara seemed to love it. The skipper calls it amazing. Widower is up next and I think Paula is going to pee her pants (I should have said something else but I just couldn't bring myself to type it). I, however, am over the dude.
That H&R Block cyclops commercial is creepy and funny at the same time. I like the guy with glasses.
Anoop-dog sings Bobby Brown better than Bobby Brown.
Jorge gets Paula dancing.
Blind Scott get some pimp time before we see him. I wasn't impress.
Kendall is the first girl up and she picks "Before He Cheats". Why do they do that? She isn't very good compared to Carrie.
Stevie sounds pretty good.
Lil Rounds over sings.
Kristen rocks it!!
Missharama something or other is up with her second shot. I wasn't feeling it.
Annoying Laughing Girl get even more TV time...much more than I think she deserves.
Alexis sing Carrie Underwood too.
Cannon Fodder Kenny sings for two seconds.
Jasmine sings that STUPID "Tattoo" song by Jordan Sparks. Why do they let they sing those songs?
Nate is channeling an extra gay guitar playing Blake Lewis for his performance. I hope he makes it! Maybe he can show me how to wear a head band.
Joanna, one of this season's plant, get more TV time. She forgot her words...that's bad.
Casey struggles with that stupid "Tattoo" song.
Steven Fowler really fowls up...get it! You like how I did that? He asks to start over. He is singing an Idol song as well. He leave the stage without finishing...odd.
I just caught a glimpse of the necklace Paula is wearing, or should I call it a hubcap? I wonder if it spins.
Nick/Norman is up as Norman. I hope he makes it. I like him and I think he can sing.
Anne Marie sings a song a bunch of other people sang. I'm beginning to think that they only had a few songs to pick from. With that in mind, I blame the judges for putting Idol songs on the list. I'll forgive the contestants...for now.
Junot is from Maryland. I didn't like that version of that crappy song.
Kaylan get interrupted by Simon.
Lanessha get the last of her air time. The judges seem to like her but I'm not impressed.
Kai's voice was feeling the pressure.
The Oil Driller Dude has the understatement of the day. "American Idol means so much because it can make a difference for our family and for our future." Ya think? He sounds pretty good but I'm hating his shirt.
I'm guessing that room three gets the boot and the other ones stick around until tomorrow's Chair-O-Death Walk.
Room 2 makes it to tomorrow after the judges try to fake them out.
India was great in the group number but she's in room three and her solo was not very good.
Room 3 does NOT get to sit in the Chair-O-Death. The judges show mercy and they don't drag it out.
Room 1 is safe after the judges tease them.
Room 4 is the last room and they are safe after the judges tease them...get a new shtick, guys. Annoying Laughing Girl makes a bee-line to Paula for a hug.
Tomorrow we see the judges mansion????
