Non-smoking Update

It's fixed!

I think my feed is fixed and my blog is up and running again! Well, it was never down I just had some settings wrong and never knew it. I'm ready for the next American Idol! Let's hope Luke blows everyone out of the water. I'd like to look at him for another week.

I can't believe what I did yesterday! This is the first time I did this since I quit smoking (see below). I was coming out of work talking to April and searching my pockets...for my cigarettes! I was shocked! I haven't done that since January 2nd when I started to try to quit. I guess I still need to keep my guard up since it doesn't seem to be out of my system yet!

This is Great!

For the first time in my voting life, I actually volunteered for a candidate! I spent a couple of hours this morning call people for Barack Obama. It was fun! My boss and his wife were on the sheet that I had. That was nice because I already how they are voting so my first call was easy.

My husband is sick and sleeping right now and I'm having a craving for a smoke! I won't smoke. I won't smoke. I won't smoke!!! It's been two solid weeks without a puff! I'm done with cigs.

Another Day Done

I'm starting day 5 of being a non-smoker and everything is going great. I had a really hard time last evening but made it without even thinking about the hidden cigs I have in the house. My husband didn't smoke yesterday as far as I know. He went to his mom's after work so I can't be 100% sure. The big test comes tomorrow. We are in a Poker tournament and over half of the people smoke. I think we'll be okay if we don't drink. If I can make it past the 28 day mark, I'm home free.

My day is looking to be rather boring. I'll be stamping Avon books here shortly and getting ready to delivery them along with the orders I had this week. That will take up most of the day. I really love AVON and I like all of my customers but I don't think it's worth it anymore. I do a ton of work and don't have a lot to show for it. Last year, I'd spend at least an hour a day on AVON, most of the time more than that, and for what? I figured it out and I averaged about $3.00 an hour. I'm not doing that anymore! Here's my new schedule:
Week one Tuesday: pick up order
Week one Thursday: arrange delivery with clients and sort orders
Week one Saturday: deliver orders and books
Week two Saturday: hunt for people to sign up with AVON

And that's it! I only want to average about 10 hours a week this year, maybe less. We'll see how it goes.

I had better get to stamping books. My first delivery is at 11:30.

Good Morning!!

Hello all! I FINALLY slept through the night with only one interruption! This quitting smoking thing is hard work! Anyway, I've decided that I'll switch the countdown to day instead of hours. I think I'm at a good point with it. My husband, however, still has not quit. He only smoked 2 cigs yesterday but, as all of you ex-smokers know, one puff is too much! I hope he can do it. I'm getting worried.

Also, 11 days and 11 hours to American Idol!! We shall see if I get to involved this year as well. I still haven't decided if I'm going to blog about it or not. Since I've decided that Avon is only going to take up my time on Saturdays, I may have the time. Who knows!

Training went well yesterday. I learned all I wanted to about the blue print machine and more. I have a number of projects that I have in mind for it! I think Tonya is worried that she won't be needed anymore. All I know is that if she isn't here, we can help customers with out a problem. The training guy, Thomas, was really nice and I think we all got along very well. I did see Tonya roll her eyes a few times but I think that was at our questions not at the instructor. BTW, all of our questions were good ones. I can't wait until someone come in for blue prints.

Well, I'll write more later!!

60!!

I've been in training all morning at work and have had about 3 major nic-fits! I am a non-smoker! I really am doing good but I seem to forget that during the fit. All I want is to smoke at those times. I spoke with my husband and he says that he hasn't smoked yet today. I hope he can keep it up. I really need for both of us to be smoke-free. It's going to be too hard if one of us continues to smoke. Well, I better get back to training.

Hour 46

I am a non-smoker! My husband is not. He smoked all day but hasn't smoke around me...thank goodness! I am a non-smoker! I've said that to myself at least 40 times today. I think it's working. At least it has worked so far. Well, I'm off to bed.

My husband just told me to tell you that he is going to strangle me in my sleep because of "I'm a non-smoker!" Now he's babbling about the ice cream he just ate. I think I'm safe.

Why I Quit

I've been reading books and looking at web sites about quiting smoking and all of them say to write down a list of the reasons why you want to quit. I just kept my list in my head. Afterall, isn't it a "No Brainer" to quit smoking? It's dirty, it's expensive, it's unhealthy, blah, blah, blah. I KNOW that. Why in the hell should I waste my time and write it down?!?! Then it dawned on me, I can use the list later to remind myself of why I quit (the books should really spell this out better)! Of course I'm smart but how smart will I be when that monkey on my back weighs 500 pounds and all I can think of is how much I NEED a cig? So, with this in mind, I picked up a pen and started to write.

WHAT IF I LOSE THIS PIECE OF PAPER? (My inner voice can be very loud when it wants to.)

I think a blog would be better. I'll have it to look when I need to, I won't loose it and maybe someone else will read it and it will help.

Anyway, here's the list.

Basic reasons everyone has
1. It's expensive
2. It's dirty
3. It smells bad (it really does, Febreeze isn't cutting it either)
4. It causes cancer and other serious health problems
5. My dad's been on my ass for years to quit

My main reason
I realized that smoking controls my life. From the moment I wake until I sleep, cigarettes run the show.
"Do I need to stop on my way to work to get cigs or do I have enough to get me to work?"
"Do I need to buy a pack from the news stand next door or can I make it to the store?"
"Do a have enough to last me until tomorrow morning, or do I need to stop at the store on the way home?"
"Are we going out for dinner? If so, is there smoking there or do I need to stop and smoke on the way in."
"Where's my lighter?"
Every where I go I look for ashtrays and no smoking signs.
Smoking controls all I do!

This is reason that I will be a non-smoker!

Another Count Down...or should I say, Count Up!

I'm on hour 36 of being a non-smoker. It's really hard right now so I thought I'd use this blog to help me out. This morning was REALLY bad. I didn't think I was going to make it. The good thing is I did. I just realized something!!! It was REALLY hard AND I know where I hid 7 packs of cigs but I DIDN'T SMOKE!! I am feeling a lot better since I thought of that! I'm doing it! I'm going to remain a non-smoker! This blog is going to help me a great deal. I don't think I would have realized my victory today if I hadn't started typing.

My only downfall could be my husband. We both smoked and we both quit at the same time, kind of. I found out that he smoked two cigs yesterday. That can't happen again. I think I might sign him up for a blog. He's going to have a hard time today. He is off all day with not much that he has to do. There are a ton of things that he could do at the house but we shall see what he does. I'm worried. I told him that if he starts smoking today not to tell me and not to smoke in the house. Maybe this will tell him that I mean business. Every time we have quit before, I've been the one to cave and drag him down with me. I'm not playing that role this time. I'm a non-smoker!

I'm a non-smoker! I will never, ever smoke again!! (repeat as needed)
