I am so proud of you!! My parents both smoked when my sister and I were growing up. To this day, I have bad asthma and my sister has back acid reflux. Come to find out they were caused by the second hand smoke inhilation. Did you quit cold turkey? That seems to be the only way that works supposedly. Anyways, congrats!

What are you doing??
I need to/ want to quit..you know how it is...

sunshine: how could you possibly know if your asthma and/or acid reflux were the result of secondhand smoke? It could have been the result of any number of things. There are lots of people with parents who smoked who have neither affliction; and people who have those afflictions and did not live with smokers. I'm just wondering what kind of scientific proof you have that secondhand smoke caused your illnesses - isn't it just your belief that that's the case? I just get tired of people making assertions as if they are facts, when really they aren't facts - just beliefs.

p.s. congrats Kristi - keep it up!

Thanks! It gets easier every day. The only problem is that I'm turning into one of THOSE ex-smokers. I want every one to stop and I have to bite my tongue to keep from saying anything. I know whatever I say won't do any good. Nothing anyone ever said to me made a difference. I still want to try though. Go figure!

To anonymous:

I am not a doctor, nor will I ever be one, but the fact that MY doctor told me that's why I have it, I believe him. He could be wrong, but if I didn't believe anything he said, he would be a pretty pointless doctor, wouldn't he?

I was just posting to congratulate Kristi on a job well done, not to start an argument on whether or not my condition is true or not.
