CSI:Miami to the Idol Auditions
As Horatio would say, "These singers hit some sour notes." Actually, this whole show did. It wasn't near as entertaining as Omaha. It had no heart, no soul and not enough laughs. (That last guy was awful!)
When is Hollywood week anyway? I missed the last few minutes of the show. It ran over and my Tivo doesn't like that. Besides, Fox only does that to boost the rating on that gross show about telling the truth. "The truth shall set you free" my ass. The truth shall land you in a bunch of hot water!
Quote of AI - Omaha
"...I'm so happy I feel like I could explode and happiness is going to go flying everywhere."
-Chris Bernheisel (didn't make it) Can I just say I love this guy! Handstand and everything! We get to see him again on the red carpet (hopefully)! His audition entertained me to no end. I even snort-laughed!
"I can't wait to get to Hollywood and prove to Simon that I am America's next Top Model!"
-Elizabeth Erkert (made it) She must watch ANTM as much as I do.
I loved Omaha!!
I think we're going to need to move
I love living downtown and, until recently, I loved our apartment. Well, I still love the actual apartment but we don't have heat! At the beginning of December (2nd or 3rd) the furnace in our building died. I came home to find a TINY space heater and a note saying that the heat would be fixed on Dec. 17. Well, the 17th came and went without heat. We had to get another space heater to try to stay warm. It didn't always work. The awesome big windows we have aren't very weather proof. Since the beginning of January, we've had heat on and off. One day, it's 50 and the next day it's 80. Tonight it's 50 and I'm freezing!!!!!
Anyway, since it's Tuesday, it's American Idol! If anything happens, I'll let you know!
Plans
I don't really have much to write about today. At this moment, my husband is driving my nuts! It's a combo of him and the fact that he's smoking and I'm not. It's Cathy Ann's birthday today. I made her a card. I'll post a picture of it tomorrow. We are going to lunch to celebrate. We alos have poker tonight. Wish me luck.
GH is Awesome!
Some of you may know that my husband got me Guitar Hero III for Christmas. I know, not very romantic. Screw romantic! I LOVE Guitar Hero and Will be playing it for longer than I would wear a lace teddy!!! Lace teddy = 2 secs. Guitar Hero = FOREVER. Anyway, I'm stuck on Medium and I'm getting discouraged. I found a web site that gave me hope. It took the guy 8 months to get to expert. I got 7 months to go! He also had this cartoon. For those of you that have played the game, you will know EXACTLY what this means.
David Archuleta
They didn't cover THIS last night!!
Towards the end of the American Idol first season, a friend of the family called about a show Jenny Jones was doing to feature talented kids across America and thought David should audition for the show. A show producer called and listened to an a capella recording of David singing "And I Am Telling You", and was so impressed, she asked him to rush a video and CD to them. A few days later, David and his dad were on a plane to Chicago to be on the show. While there he met AJ Gil from American Idol and formed a friendship with him, and a week later while in LA, met with AJ who then introduced David to the rest of the American Idol finalists
including Kelly, Justin, Tamyra, Christina, Nikki, RJ, Jim, Ryan, and Ejay, and asked him to perform for them. They were absolutely amazed with his singing, and within a few days David was being introduced to many TV and Record label producers and executives.

From rickey.org
"MCA invested $2.2 million in Carly Smithson a few years ago when she was still Carly Hennessy. The album she made flopped. Carly auditioned in Season 5 but was disqualified because of visa issues. She was the “Irish Girl” Simon Cowell said was his favorite. Now she’s back, and in trying to prevent people from knowing her real background she has changed her name. This is crazy — and it’s so lame! If she’s the chosen one I’m going to be livid. Eventually, fans will know about Carly’s real background and there will be some form of backlash. I’m a bit pissed off right now. She even cried for the sympathy vote."Couldn't have said it better myself!!!
American Idol Links
It's American Idol night and since we are still in audition weeks I thought I'd share with you, my faithful readers (ha ha), my favorite AI sites.
The two sites I can't watch Idol without are MJ's Big Blog and Vote For The Worst (VFTW). I love them both. MJ's provides info on all things Idol during the season as well as all year long including album releases, concert dates, chart standings, and appearances. VFTW is the site some Idol views love to hate! They claim the American Idol is not about singing at all, it's about making good reality TV and enjoying a guilty pleasure. They live for making the least likely contestant to win stay on the show as long as possible. Check them out. Their recaps are priceless!
There are a number of blogs I like to check for recaps. All of these are pretty entertaining and make me laugh.
Ducky Does TV - Review a number of shows. Love him!
The Joy of Idol - three ladies sharing the joy
Idol Review
High Lord Dave's Blog - discusses other things too
GolightlyGrrl's Blog
Foxes on Idol - has a number of different commentators
Zap2Its Guide to American Idol
Rickey.org - videos
The blog that started this obsession of mine is none other than The Woes and the Prose of an American Idol Junkie by a fan named Jennifer. This was the first blog I had seen and it got me hooked! Please stop by and say "HI"!
Chris Sligh from season six has his own blog (as I'm sure other contestants do) and I like stopping by to see what he's up to. I love his writing style and the opinions he gives. It's well worth the stop.
If you are a serious Idol fan, there is one site that you must visit before it's time to start voting. DialIdol provides free speed dialing software for voting! It allowed me to vote hundreds of times in the two hour voting window. Love it! I'm sure there will be updates before voting begins so check this site the week before. I'll remind you again.
Joe's Place, over at Idol Forums (you have to sign up first to view anything), contains spoilers for this season. Don't go there if you don't want to know what has happened in Hollywood up until this point.
I guess that about covers it. My Tivo to recording the new ep as I'm typing this so I had better get going!!!
It's Tuesday! It's Tuesday! It's Tuesday!
It's American Idol! Since we're still in the taped auditions, I'm going to give you a list of AI links that I check and why I check them during the show. Check back for all things AI!!
I'm doomed!
Well, it looks like the online version of a food log is a bomb for me. I need to be able to carry it with me. I wish I had an iPhone! Anyway, I'm still going to to it but I need to get a small note book I can carry around with me and write down things BEFORE I buy/eat them.
I made the mistake of drinking a drinking a few beers yesterday and going to 7-11 before the last football game. Needless to say, I will NOT be telling you what I ended up eating that night! This is why I need to bring the log with me. If I had to write down everything I bought, I won't have bought it (or ate it).
I have to quite drinking. I don't have a problem with it as far as need a 12-step program but I do have a tendency to want to have fun after a few beers. Everything seems like a good idea to me which is not a good think when it comes to food, money, or smoking. Yes, I fell off that wagon too yesterday. Damn Coors Light!
I don't think I'm doomed but I think not drinking is going to be a big help. I'm determined to quit smoking and to loose weight by Vegas. Wish me luck!!!
PS - one more day until more AI!!!
I won...twice!
Mike has been in Rockville taking care of his son since Friday night. His mom went into the hospital again. She's coming home today. I'm not sure but I think her medication needed adjusting again. He should be on his way home soon.
Saturday night is our night for poker. Since Mike was out of town, I went by myself. I was pretty fun. I didn't drink because I was around a bunch of smokers and I was afraid that if I drank, I would smoke. I also ate a lot of chip and salsa. Between those two things, I did NOT smoke!!! Yeah for me! I won that battle. (However, right at this moment, I really WANT to smoke.)
The second battle I won was in poker. Well, Jamie and I decided to split the pot but that was the first time in a long time I won money at poker! Yeah me! Win number two for the night!
Food Log 1-20-2008
Breakfast: Granola Cereal with 2% milk
Lunch:
Dinner:
Snacks:
Drinks: glass of V8, Crystal Light
After dinner thoughts:
I didn't get a chance to write down my thoughts on eating yesterday because I didn't get home from poker until 11:30. Looking back, yesterday was a big smoking day for me. I was off work without a lot to do and I went to poker with a bunch of smokers. All in all, I think I did pretty well on the eating yesterday. I could have done better but I didn't smoke and that's HUGE!
Smoking Log 1-20-2008
I didn't smoke yesterday!!!! I would like to smoke right now but I won't.
Weight Log
What do I want More? A Meat Lovers Pizza or to look decent in a swimsuit in Vegas in September?
Big Time in the Old Town!
There was a lot of excitement in Winchester yesterday. It seems a suspicious package was found Friday afternoon in front of the FBI office on Braddock St. in Winchester. The surrounding area was evacuated and some of the roads were closed. Piccadilly street was one of the streets but the only way you could tell was to look at the barriers on the street because there was still plenty of traffic.
Right now, it looks like three people found an old briefcase in a garbage can and decided it would be funny to drop it off in front of the FBI office. The three have been arrested. The COOL thing that happened was that a bomb squad was called in to blow up the briefcase and they did! We heard it in my office. Very cool!
Totally unrelated, a dead body was found in a warehouse on Cameron street today as well. What I'm hearing is that there was a small fire in the building a few days ago that put itself out but killed the person. I'm thinking that it was a homeless person that broke into the building to stay warm. There are quite a few homeless downtown.
All in all, it was quite an exciting day in Downtown Winchester!
OH! AND it snowed Thursday!

Weight Log
What do I want More? A Whopper or to be able to ride on a plane comfortably?
Now for something completely different
My husband and I are trying to quit smoking and loose weight. I read in a magazine at the doctor's office that I good way to start loosing weight is to write everything down that you eat. After all, do you really want to write down that you ate a Baskin Robbins two-scoop sundae? I won't. so I thought I'd start today with the food and also add it my smoking urges. I'm going try to be good and write all the time. As you can see, I've waited until 12:30pm to start which is not a good sign. Anyway, here goes!
Food Log 1-18-2008
Breakfast: McDonalds' Hashbrowns, Sausage McMuffin
Lunch: X slices of extra cheese Pizza Hut pizza
Dinner: Leftover Chinese (YUMMY!)
All day snacks: tic tacs - one pack of cinnamon (to help with quiting smoking...one "tac" at a time.)
Drinks: 2 Mountain Dews, glass of V8, Crystal Light, Large Coke
After dinner thoughts:
First thought is that I have to AT LEAST start drinking diet soda if not just water. Second thought, I need to bring food to work. I will, however, throw out the excuse that it's Friday and everyone likes to order out on Friday. I have to stop being lazy and start cooking and cleaning. I REALLY hate to do dishes but I need to make myself do them.
Smoking Log 1-18-2008
I was very mad at my husband last night for smoking. I guess I wasn't mad at him for smoking but mad that he did it without me!! Anyway, my cravings are a little less so far today. That's a good sign!!
I really, really want to smoke after eating! I timed my craving and it went away in less than two minutes. I think I can handle that! I still think that I'm not going to be able to drink and not smoke yet. I pretty sure that not drinking is a good thing and will help with the weight loss part of this "New Me" project.
Weight Log
I will not post my weight for all to see. My husband doesn't even know what I weigh. I will post losses until I feel okay with sharing my weight. I can tell you that the little changes I've made this past week have helped. I went to the doctor last Thursday and again this Thursday and had lost 2 pounds! I think I might have gained them back with what I ate today but we shall see.
I must remember to think, "What do I want More?" Do I want that cookie or do I want to shop in a store with normal sized clothes?
AI has gone insane!
I'm sitting here watching the second ep of AI and I can't believe what's going on. They denied virgin-boy but let fingernail-collector and the car-accident-chick through to Hollywood. WTF?!?! I'm very confused. What the hell if going on? It's like someone gave me crazy pills!!!!!!!
It's BAAACCCKKKK!!!!!!
Tonight starts the new season of American Idol, season seven. Let's hope they don't stink it up like they did last year. I'm going to keep my eye on it and blog when I deem it worth. Last year I kind of gave up towards the end. I didn't care who won after Sanjaya left. (Admit it, he's really the only one you remember from last year.) I hope there's not another Sanjaya, unless this season sucks like the last one then we're going to need him.
Here's to a bright, new season filled with hope...at least so far!
How many times...
How many times am I going to try to blog?! I get so mad at myself for not doing it and then it just seems like too much time has passed. Oh well! I'm back to try again.
Maybe if I do short posts....
