Happy Birthday to all!!

This is the time of year when a LOT of my family has birthdays. Afterall, the holiday season is 9 months before!

Today is my brother Andy's birthday and tomorrow is mine! yeah. Andy is 16 and I'm much older than that! Okay, I'm 37 if you must know!

Last week, my cousin Keri had a baby girl (Hadley Makai) and today, my best friend from high school, Susan, gave birth to a little girl as well (Catherine Wade)! In addition to these two...additions...the following also have birth days either coming up or just past:

Uncle Mike (Aug. 9)
Kendra (Aug. 11)
My Dad (Aug. 14)
Aunt Sandy (Aug. 15)
Emili and her brother (Aug. 28 and Aug. 27)
Me and my brother (Aug. 30 and Aug. 29)
Uncle Jimmy (Sept. 1)
Aunt Peggy (Sept. 4)
Uncle Scott (Sept. 4)
My step dad Russ (Sept. 6)

Not too shabby for less than a month!!

The Grill

First of all I would like to ask all of you if you would ever touch someone else’s food? Working in the food service industry does not count. Let me tell you what just happened. I ordered a sandwich from the Grill down the block and went in to pick it up. Phyllis (the lady that runs the place) put my order on the counter and turned to ring it up. As soon as she put it down, the girl seating in the seat next to me TOUCHED MY SANDWICH! It was wrapped but still why in the HELL would someone do that? Once Phyllis told my the total, I pointed at the sandwich and asked if that was mine. Phyllis AND the girl said yes. I said “Well, I was just wondering why you would touch my sandwich?” She just sat there. I still can’t believe that someone would touch my food!

Here’s more on the Grill!

I work in an old downtown area where the choices for food are limited and pricey. There is a small dinner (the Grill) a few doors down that is one of the cheapest place downtown (the other is a place is lovingly called the Smelly Deli). About a year and a half ago the Smelly Deli burned and the Grill became the only cheap place for food. I hardly ever had a problem that I can remember during that time. I think they might have put sausage on one of my sandwiches when I didn’t order it but that’s about it.

Well, the Smelly reopened about 3-4 months ago and I have been going there the most simply because it has healthier food choices. You can still get things that are fried and covered with gravy but you can also get fresh fruit and salads. I think the people at the Grill are mad that I’m not coming in as much as I used to. You wouldn’t think one customer would matter that much but I don’t think I’m the only one who has defected. I used to eat breakfast and lunch from the Grill everyday. Now, there are weeks that go by that I get nothing from them. I’m also in the process of changing my eating habits and the Grill doesn’t really fit into my diet that well.

I tried ordering something new from them one day and I don’t think I’ll be doing that again. I ordered 1 scrambled egg and one piece of wheat toast plain. I went to get it and there was a big glob of butter on the toast. I told them I asked for it plain and they said that I should have asked for it dry. The next time I ordered it dry they fixed white toast. I tried again, butter again. I decided that it just wasn’t in their nature to make a small breakfast. You should see the two huge pancakes you can get for $2.25! They weigh at least 2 pounds each!

Gotta get back to work!

Viva Las Vegas

Our trip to Vegas is looming large! We leave in 32 days and I have no gambling money! I have redone my budget to eliminate any extra spending but I usually not too good at denying myself anything. I’m really bad that way. If I want something, I usually go and get it. That could be why I have no money for Vegas. It’s a vicious circle!

We are flying Jet Blue which I’m very excited about. I’ve only heard good thing about them. I’m really looking forward to bigger seats and watching what I want and not Mr. and Mrs. Smith BOTH ways like last time. That movie sucked to big one! I don’t think they had any chemistry on screen so it’s hard for me to imagine that they have any off screen either. Angelina is weird!

We arrive the day before the rest of my family from South Dakota. I wanted to do this for two reasons. 1) It’ll be nice to have a night to ourselves and 2) we’re staying on Freemont Street at Binion’s! My husband and I are really into Texas Hold’em and want to get into a tournament that night. There are at least three to pick from. I think we’ll be doing the midnight one at the Golden Nugget. I’d love to make it to the final table! Mike has at 3 tournaments in Atlantic City and came in first once!

More on Vegas later!! I’ve got to go earn some money!

Fished out

This weekend Suzy, Maria, and I held our third AVON Overstock Sale at the parking lot of my Dad’s office. I think we fished it out. The first time I made $200, the second I made $150 and this time I only made $50. We are changing locations next time! A friend of mine owns a transmission repair shop in town and he said the we could use his parking lot. I think it will be good to move.

One funny thing happened during the sale, a customer of mine stopped by and I wish she hadn’t!! Let me tell you what happened. First of all, she doesn’t order a lot. If I call her and her total is over $10 she asks me to double check her order because she doesn’t remember ordering that much. Anyway, her last order was $2.88 with tax and the 75¢ handling fee.

In early July, I went to a friends wedding (the same one that owns the transmission repair shop) and my husband and I had a bit too much to drink. Okay, we were hammered!! I was on a diet and didn’t have a lot to eat but had way too much to drink! Anyhoo, at the end of the reception, we decided that it would be a great idea to walk to a local bar that was about 2 miles away. Luckily, the brides’ brother caught us when we were only a few blocks from the reception and gave us a ride home. Unluckily, I had forgotten the keys to the house in our car back at the reception. By now you’re wondering what this has to do with my AVON customer. Her part of the story was pieced together by looking at my cell phone the next day.

Well, it seems that sometime during the night, she called and left a message about her order. I would like to say for the record that my cell phone has way too many features for a drunk person! We were at our house trying to get in and I got my phone out to call someone that was still at the reception to get into our car (it has keyless entry). I saw I had a voice mail and I must have called it. After the phone tells me I have voice mail, it also tells me that I missed a call. Near as I can figure out, I pulled up that menu and called my customer back! At 1:30 am! Drunk off my ass! I was hoping that it was a short call and I didn’t talk to anyone but no! The call was 1 minute and 39 seconds! I talked to someone!! The next day, she called again. I didn’t NOT want to answer so I let it go to voice mail. She left a message and said NOTHING about the late night phone call. I still didn’t want to talk to her so I never called her back. I know that was a bad thing to do but I couldn’t bring myself to talk to her.

Well, she and her mom stopped by the sale on Saturday. She started at Suzy’s table which gave me a few minutes to think about what I should say. In the end, I didn’t what every up standing citizen would do...I lied! I said “Hi Debbie! You know, I lost your number!” Of course, I was kicking myself inside because I really didn’t want her back as a customer but I didn’t know what else to say. I guess that’s what I get! Karma’s a bitch! Judging for her mother’s reaction when Debbie told her who I was, I’d have to guess that I talked to her. Oh well!!

In case you are wondering, after some time and a trip back to the reception site, we are able to get into the house with the help of our great friends Angie and Joe!! They put up with a lot that night!! Thanks again guys!

Dead Like Me

Have you watched this show? I thinks it’s morbidly great! I love seeing all the people die in freaky accidents. I think the cast is great, At first, I thought George could be, I don’t know, more perky. Then I realized that she is meant to be that way...DUH! She was “DEAD” before she died! I get it! I find myself laughing at Mandy Patankin’s (sp) drug commercials because I see him calling George “Peanut” and starting up small talk to find out who’s going to die.

I try to tell people about it but it looses something in translation. “There’s this show about a girl that gets killed and comes back as a Grim Reaper! It’s so funny! Like when that guy slipped on a banana peel, got his head stuck in the revolving door, and then got his neck broke by a firefighter!” That doesn’t seem to interest too many people. Oh well! Since it’s on SciFi, I’m assuming that they will play it until all the episodes are played (two each Tuesday). I’m saving them all to DVD incase I never see them again.

I wonder if I can get SciFi to run Wonderfalls?

Fair is Fair...most of the time

I attended the fair again on Friday night and manned the booth with two new people. Let me tell you how these things work. The District Manager with AVON sets these events up and representatives in the district sign up and pay to man them. The goal is to sign up people to be AVON reps. When there are two of more people, any books or handout materials are rotated between the reps (i.e., my book, their book, my book, their book, etc.). This way everyone has a fair shot at getting recruits/customers. This system has worked fine and dandy every time...except for Friday. The reps that were there didn’t want to share. I was standing right there when one of them handed out her book, skipped over mine, and handed out the other reps book. HELLO!!! I was standing RIGHT THERE! Here I am making sure that I was fair and handed out their stuff along with mine and then they do that to me right in my face! I was ticked! They also wouldn’t leave the table and work the crowd. As you can tell. I’m still ticked!

Anyway, the rest of my weekend was not much better. We found out that my mother-in-law has to have two valves replaced in her heart. I’m not sure when. She want to do it on Sept. 15 but we’ll see what the doctor says this week. I’m not sure if he’s going to let her wait that long. She’s a great lady and a ton of fun. I hope that everything works out and she has many more years ahead. I would love to right more about this but I’ll just say... A swarmy Clown, A swarmy Clown, A swarmy Clown, A swarmy Clown!

Oh! BTW, I did manage to do some cleaning this weekend which is a miracle that I know my husband is greatfull for!!

TTFN-

PS – Don’t forget! Hell’s Kitchen and SO You Think You Can Dance end this week!!!

The Fair

As far as fairs go, the Warren county fair isn’t much to look at but, like my car, it runs great! I was there again with AVON last night and had a stellar evening. We (Suzy and me) signed up 3 people to be AVON reps and got about 18-20 good contacts.

The coolest thing of all is that the booth won a blue ribbon! I kid you not! I was standing there talking to a potential recruit and all of the sudden the beauty pageant winners come over to me and hand me a blue ribbon! THEN they came behind the table and I got my picture taken! I was the only one there at the time and was quite shocked. We also got a $50 off coupon for next year. We won for the Most Informative Business/Product! AND the Mary Kay Lady didn’t win a thing!

I was VERY tired last night and had a hard time getting up this morning. I’m either suppose to go to Rockville this afternoon or back to the fair. I’m hoping for the fair because I had a great time!!!

Whatev

I my attempt to write something in the space, I think I’m have started to over think it. I sit and think about what I’m going to write. Should I write about SYTYCD or my grandpa? AVON or my diet (which has kinda stalled BTW)? My husband and family or work? Work is really pissing me off today! I’m kinda afraid to write about work incase someone from work read it. I think the owners daughter got in trouble for something she posted on a web site but I’m not sure what it was.

Anyhoo! Back to this blog. I don’t know what it write!! I want to be funny and entertaining (I really am in real like) but I don’t think that’s coming across. You know, I don’t even know if anyone is reading this thing at all!! I feel like running a test but I’m not sure what I would do. I could say that someone died but that’s like whistling past your grave. I could write something about work but that might be taken seriously. I could pose a question that no one could resist answering if my mind worked that way. I want to be free to write what I want to write but it’s too late for that. I used my real name!! *Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!*

Maybe I’ll think of something tonight!

Warren County Fair

I attended a recruiting event at the Warren County Fair last night and it went pretty well. I have three leads that I’m going to call tonight...after I call all of my customers. I’m doing the same thing on Thursday night too. I’m pretty tired today but it was worth it!

Work at my regular job is pretty slow. As soon as I get a job, I do it. That does leave time for surfing for new blogs and the like. Anyway, not much to write about today.

I can’t wait until tonight!! SYTYCD is on and it’s going to be good!!!!! I really like Benji and Heidi but Travis is really good. I think I’m over Donyelle. Unless she pulls off something amazing, I won’t be voting for her. I haven’t decided what I’m going to do if they are all great. Who do I vote for? Do I not vote because they are all winners? Do I vote for all of them? Do I pick the person I think would be best for Celine? I don’t think I’ll do the last one. I don’t like Celine and could careless what would work for her. Anyway, I’m stumped. I guess I’ll figure it out tonight shortly before 10pm! I can’t believe we have to wait so long to get the results! I guess I’ll be checking DialIdol tomorrow!!

I was just looking back on my previous blogs and I thought it was funny that I was going to give SYTYCD “a try”! Little did I know!!!

Weekend Update

Howdy all! This weekend went by TOO fast! I was busy as usual and didn’t get any cleaning done...what else is new! Friday night I pretty much went home and watched Days of our Lives for the last 3 days. I was behind. Does anybody out there watch Days? If so, why did EJ save Austin and Carrie? I thought he wanted Sami? I don’t get it. I’m dying to find out who the people in black are!!! Anyway, I got caught up and I was happy about that.

Saturday was spent dropping Avon book off at different businesses. Everyone seemed happy to see me. Let’s see if that translates into sales. So far it hasn’t. Mike and I were bad and went to WV Saturday night and drank too much beer and then had bad pizza. We were suppose to go to Village Square (a really nice restaurant downtown) for brunch on Sunday but we felt so shitty that we thought we should do it another time. You know, like when we could taste the food!

That brings us to Sunday night. We went to the Warren county fair and saw George Jones. He was pretty good even though he’s getting pretty old. We just saw him 2 years ago and could see the difference. I guess he was in a car accident during that time. He talked about it but I couldn’t tell when it was. It did seem to change his life. He said he was scheduled to be in the recording studio today (Monday) at 10am but I’m not sure how he managed that one. I don’t think the studio was any where near Front Royal, VA.

That’s it for my weekend update except I got a call from one of my Avon clients. This lady is a piece of work. She ordered $7.08 in products and did not return my phone calls to arrange delivery. This was a couple of months ago. There is only so many phone calls and drive-bys that I’m going to do for $7.08. Well, she called on Friday and wanted to know why I never called her. I don’t want to call her back. I’ve bent over backwards for this lady more than once and don’t want to do it again. Every time she orders, it’s like pulling teeth to get with her to deliver/pay and until recently, she was a stay at home mom. It seemed to me that she left just before I was due to deliver. I hate that. Anyway, not much of a rant but that’s the best I can do on a Monday morning!!

Let the countdown to So You Think You can Dance begin!! 59 hours, 57 minutes and counting!!!

Weekend Plans

Well, my weekend is going to be jammed with crap...as usual. Tonight I need to make AVON calls, stop by my Aunt’s house, package my AVON deliveries, make dinner (that might become optional), and clean (which seems to ALWAYS become optional)! Saturday, my husband will be going to visit his mother and son so I’ll spend the day melting in the car while I deliver AVON and AVON books in an attempt to make some money for our Vegas trip. Oh yeah! We’re going to Vegas again! We got married there last year and will be going back at about the same time. I’ll write more on that later. Back to my weekend.

Sunday is going to be busy too. Mike and I will be going to brunch at a fancy restaurant in downtown Winchester and then were going to see George Jones! One of the local fairs have old country stars open the fair every year and we’ve been doing it four out of the past five years. We go with my Aunt Shelley, Uncle Jerry, my dad and step mom, Cathy Ann. We’ve seen David Alan Coe, Randy Travis, and this will be the second time seeing George Jones. We always have a blast. We tailgate for a bit and then see the show. This heat wave better break by then!!!

Before I know it, Monday’s here again!!!

Here’s to trying to fit 10 pounds of crap into a 5 pound bag!!

Down to the last dancers standing

Well, Ivan and Natalie are history. That’s okay. I felt Natalie should have left last week instead of Allison. I’m sad that Ivan is gone because he reminds me so much of my brother! Last night was sad for me because of that reason. I’m miss him. The contemporary routine that he and Allison performed gave me my first dancing-goose bumps and made me cry like Mary!! Heidi and Travis did it to me again with the flower routine!

Let see...who do I want to win? I would have to say it’s Benji all the way. I would like to state the obvious in that Travis or Donyelle would do better with the Celine show than Benji or Heidi but that’s secondary.

One question, when Cat said that next week all the dancers would have to dance with each other, does that mean that Donyelle and Heidi will do a routine as well as Benji and Travis????

I’ll write more later!! Got to pay the bills!

I'm back!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this thing but I'll give it a shot. I've spent some of my free time looking at other people's blogs to see what they are doing and to get ideas. I’ve found a lot of good ones (Tortilla Chips and Milk). Some of them are about TV shows that I like and some of them are like reading someone diary.

I would love to talk about what pisses me off but a lot of that is work related and I don’t think I should go into any of that here. I may do general complaints if I can make it so the object of my anger won’t know I’m talking about them if they happen to read this. I may talk about my day, Avon, my husband, my family...well, anything I want to.

Tonight is So You Think You Can Dance!!! I can’t wait. I have a problem with TV at times. I get really into a show and that’s all I can talk about. It’s kinda sad but I guess there are worse things to talk about. I love all the dancers except Natalie so I’m going to be sad for someone tonight, most likely Ivan. Ivan reminds me of my little brother and I really like him. I don’t think he’s the best dancer that’s left but I still like him. I believe that it will be Heidi, Benji, Donyelle, and Travis in the finals with Benji winning. That prize would be better for Travis but EVERYONE loves Benji!

I’m also behind in watching my soap, Days of Our Lives. If anyone reading this has any ideas on who the two people in black are, I would LOVE to discuss it. I just can’t think of two people who would work together to mess with Sami, Steve and Kayla, AND Shawn and Mimi et.al. Who knows?!?! Also, where are John and Marlena? I think it’s been long enough. They need to get back for Belle and to see Sami crash and burn. Also, what do you think EJ is up to? Why did he come to town? Why did he seem to know so much about Sami in the beginning?

Well, I’ll write more tomorrow!!

Favorite shows: Eureka, anything Stephen King, Monk, American Idol, Day of Our Lives, So You Think You Can Dance, Dead Like Me...I know there are more and I’ll think about the list for tomorrow!!
