Life after Idol
I'm not sure what I'm suppose to do with this blog now. I don't think my life is interesting enough to write about it but I'll give it shot!
Work has been slow due to upcoming holiday which is fine with me because I get to do whatever I want. Bill was gone yesterday morning so Laurie was a pain is everybody's butt! I don't know why she does that but she does that every time. This is boring! So much for writing about work!
After work I went on AVON deliveries which were uneventful. I got to talk about Idol with Gay which was great! Earlier in the day, I talked about Idol with Jody at my dad's office which was great as well! I need something else to talk about!
Mike and I watch Stephen King's Desperation last night. It was opposite Idol on Tuesday night so I TiVo'd it. It was okay. I don't think it was the greatest TV movie Stephen King has ever done like he said on his web site. I personally think that The Stand was the best and will always be the best. Storm of the Century was awesome, It was great, The Shining (TV version) was great too, and Rose Red was excellent. I don't think this one comes close to the others. Sorry Stephen! You know I still love you!
I TiVo'd So You Think You Can Dance last night and I'll give that a shot. I don't think it's going to compare to Idol. Actually, I was surprised that it got a second season. Hell's Kitchen is going to start up again, Boys v. Girls. It was good last year so it should be good this year as well. I was surprised that this one got picked up again as well but I think they are more forgiving when it comes to summer programs.
Well, I guess that's all for now!

Swan Song It's Really Over! It was no surprise to anyone (except David Hasselhoff - did you see him tear up?) that Taylor was declared the next American Idol.
I was reading all the blogs and comment sections as well as getting on the E-Train and I was so excited by the time it started that I didn't think I was going to make it.
I actually started watching the TV Guide channel at 7pm. Kimberly and whoever the other chick is can not interview more than one person at a time. It was so annoying to have them talking over the guests and the guests talking over each other. I got too annoyed and was glad when 7:30 rolled around so I could switch to Fox for the Red carpet crap.
Crap was right! Who was that old guy interviewing people? Does he know he's getting feeble minded? Also, 7:30 is too late to start something like this because EVERYONE IS ALREADY INSIDE! I didn't realize that until the only thing the old fart did was go to tape. Oh! And I had just watched all these people get interviewed on the TV Guide channel! So far, my night was not going well.
Thank goodness it's 8pm! I don't think I would have made it any longer!
The show opened with a big group number with Carrie Underwood leading it off. Joining her were Kat and Taylor and joining them was the rest the 12 finalist all in white. It looked nice but kinda boring. Where's my Elliott?!?!
The judges intros were quite entertaining! Loved Simon's montage! Now, on to the good stuff!!
Paris and Al were fabulous! I know we haven't seen the last of her! They looked like they were having a great time. Over all, everyone on the show tonight looked like they had a great time.
Can I ask you all one question...Why are they still pimping Pickler? I don't get it! She lost! Get over it. I don't want to see any more of her then I have to.
Holy cantalope Batman! It's Meatloaf and McBoobs! Meat had a little trouble starting off but this is the largest TV audience in the history of mankind so I'd be nervous too! Kat was fabulous and helped him. I really liked this performance. I would have loved it more if McBoobs were in the McDress more. They were a little distracting. As it turns out, they would be on display the entire evening.
New item for AI, the Golden Idols. I think some of the clips could have been shortened but overall these was a very funny segments. After the first "winner" wasn't there, I thought, "Great, this is just a way to show the same old tired clips." but when Crazy Dave came out and fell off the stage, I was very happy!!
The guys did a number next and I was entertained. Not enough Elliott! Kevin, please stop checking the "boys."
The next Golden Idol is for most emotional family member. Mrs. Yamin won!! She is such a cute little old lady! I'm going to miss seeing her. This paves the way for Elliott's number with MJB. I'm not familiar with her work but I think I would like it. I'm a little disappointed with this number because they really didn't seem together. Not like the rest of them.
I just realized that I forgot about Chris and Live! They aren't in my notes! I'm so sorry! Chris and the Live guy look alike but they don't sound alike! That guy better watch his back! Chris is going to mop the floor with him one day! I hope I didn't forget anything else!
After Elliott, Carrie did her new single to up the sales. I'm disappointed that she was the only past Idol winner on the show. I would have loved to see ALL the winners and ALL the number 2's perform. Maybe next year.
Taylor and Toni are next with In the Ghetto. Is that the way she normally sings? This whole performance was just odd. Was she trying to get Taylor to feel her up? I'm glad that's over! Yuck!
Girls number is next. I liked it. Mandisa rocked! I don't think they should have done Trouble. Elliott killed it and they did not come close to him. I will have to say that this number was too much Kat. The guys number didn't have too much Taylor so I'm not sure why they did so much Kat in this one.
One of the best parts of the night came next...another Golden Idol! The guys reaction to Clay coming on stage was priceless! He looked just like a little school girl! Clay's looking a little scary! What's up with that? I'm NOT a Clay fan so I don't really care, just thought it was odd.
The Burt Tribute was kinda long and did Mandisa mess up or what?! Everyone else did a good job but Elliott was Fantastic!!!! Lisa was very, very good as well. Why are they still pimping Pickler?!?! Dionne Warwick coming out at the end was great. She still sounds great but was little pitchy at the end.
Another Golden Idol for best male bonding! The Brokenote Cowboys are back!! Little Garet is as cute as ever! This AI experience will live with him forever. I can see him in 50 years talking to the turkeys "Did I every tell ya I was a TV star once?"
OMG! It's Prince!! This is a BIG surprise! I love it! I don't know the songs he sang but they were his! I wish he would have either sang with the Idols or sang something everyone knows for the second song (Kiss, Purple Rain, etc.).
McBoobs is back with Taylor for the duet. One word - Blah. I did learn that McBoobs doesn't play will with others. Anyway, big announcement...Taylor wins. Like we didn't already know.
That's it for this year! I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this blog now but I'll think of something!

Poor Kat
I feel so sorry for Kat. She got shafted with her original song. It wasn't even in her key! I guess this is just one more example of how AI controls the outcome. Oh well! It really doesn't matter to me who wins but I would have liked it to be fair.
Overall, I would say that this year opened my eyes to the wicked ways of the AI producers. They may not rig the voting but they spin EVERYTHING!
I'm tired of AI and I'm glad it's over!

Tonight's the Night (Part One)
Well, it's the next to the last Idol for this season and I couldn't be less excited. Who's going to win? Who cares! My Idol went "home" last week. Until this year, I've been so excited by the end that I could hardly stand it. This year is different. I think it's because I've invested so much time into this season and I know more about the contestants then I have in the past. A lot of this year's top 12 will be heard from again, I just wish they could strike while the iron was hot instead of waiting until after the concert tour at least. America has a short attention span and we may forgot by then. Paris who? Just kidding Paris, we love you!
I'm also not excited about the two finalist because I don't really like them. Oh sure, Taylor is entertaining and Katharine is pretty but outstanding singers they are not. Close your eyes for one of the song tonight and honestly ask yourself if you would listen to an entire CD by this person. I'm thinking the answer might be "no".
I want to encourage you not to vote. If your favorite is out of the game (Chris or Elliott), save your time, energy, and money (text messaging). Let's show Fox that we CARE about who wins and are not going to vote just because we can. Does it really matter at this point anyway? The top two will get recording contracts with AI and sell millions so what's the point? I'll tell you, to sell us things. The commercial cost for this must be close to Superbowl rates by now. The goal of the final two shows is to make as much money as possible.
All together..."HELL, NO! WE WON'T VOTE! HELL, NO! WE WON'T VOTE! HELL, NO! WE WON'T VOTE! HELL, NO! WE WON'T VOTE! HELL, NO! WE WON'T VOTE!"
WHO'S WITH ME?!?!?!
TTFN-

We will Miss you, Elliott! We will also buy your CD when it comes out!
In one of the closest vote totals ever, Elliott was sent "home" last night. It is sad that the best singer won't win AI since Chris and now Elliott aren't there but it does go it show that AI is NOT a singing competition. I challenge all of you to close your eyes when Taylor performs next and LISTEN. Would you buy a CD by this guy?
I will be watching the final show but I will not be voting. It doesn't matter to me who wins now so why waste the time. I've invested a lot of time into Idol this year and it's a bitter sweet ending. I know, it ends next week but it's really over for me now.
Look for Elliott to disappear after the Idol Tour and come out later with a new look and ready to knock our socks off!!
Elliott, we love you and you did GREAT!!!

"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
Well, I WAS mad as hell last night and this morning over the crap TPTB dished out to Elliott last night! However, I've managed to have some Whoppers and clam down a little. Before I get into why I'm mad and a recap of last night, I'd like to say that over all, last night sucked. Elvis week was MUCH better.
Why am I mad you might ask? It's simple, Kat got pimped and Elliott got the shaft! Here are my thoughts:
1. Since the start of AI, the final three order seems to have been decided by the vote numbers of the week before, worst to first...Not this year!
2. Since the start of AI, NO ONE who sang first on final three night has made it to the top 2.
3. Clive picked a "Rock" song. PLEASE! (In fairness to Kat and Taylor, Clive's picks were bad for all of them.)
4. The normally loud band was louder than normal for Elliott's third song.
5. Praise of Kat was WAY OTT. I thought Taylor wasn't great either but he'd be in the finals no matter what happened.
Whatever happens tonight, I will be buying whatever Elliott puts out!
Recap
It started out like all other shows, talk of the recently departed, introduction of the judges (HELLO, we know who they are!!!), and introduction of Clive "I'm old and out of touch" Davis. (Note to Producers: by AI 5, we KNOW who Clive is as well...Shorten the stock footage, please.) Some states require driving test for people who have hit "a certain age" due to all of those awful things that happen to us when we get old. Shouldn't there also be a test for picking songs for a Pop Music Show?? Clive would have failed.
Elliott was up first! Say it ain't so?!!?! It's the kiss of death! I hoped that he would knock our socks off and break that "number one on top 3 night" curse. I knew he was in trouble when Clive announced his pick of the classic rock song "Open Arms." In what context is that a Rock song? It's a ballad and that's about it. There are millions of songs that Elliott would have been great doing but this song wasn't it. Now is not the time to force them to sing outside their comfort zone. It's the top 3 not the top 12! They've jumped through the hoops and did the country, did the oldies (twice - Barry and Rod), give them something that is going to HELP them not hurt them!! I'm getting Mad As Hell again!!
Anyway, Elliott was okay. It was weak. I love Elliott so I was on the verge of tears just at the fact that he was going first! Having a suck song was too much for me and, evidently, for Elliott too! He didn't make any mistakes but it wasn't great. We needed GREAT tonight.
Kat was next with an R. Kelly "Classic"? Here's another failing mark for Clive. I'll skip the rant his time. Kat was bad, the song was bad, and Clive should NOT pick anymore...ever. His day is done. Was it just me, or did she forget the words in the middle?
Taylor did Dancing in the Dark. I never thought that this song was difficult to sing and it isn't. Taylor got a softball. Again, it doesn't really matter, he's in the finals. The gun thing was BAD. Did he flub the words? The "Courtney Cox Moment" with Paula was it for me. I'm not watching Taylor next time! Just think, only one more week and there will be a chance that I could never hear "Soul Patrol" again! That is the only thing that I'm looking forward to with the end of Idol!!! I didn't count last night but I'd guess he said it about 15 times but it felt like 15 million!
The Judges did much better than Clive! Paula's song was perfect for Elliott. My cable cut the sound towards the end right during the money notes for a few seconds! I wonder how many people had that problem? I did, however, find myself smiling during this performance so I know it was good! Yeah!! I don't think he knocked it out of the park, too bad!
The pimping of Kat was in full force during Somewhere Over the Rainbow. It was a full minute longer then anyone elses songs for the night! How is that fair? Why is she on the floor again? And just what in the hell is she singing? This must be some version that I've never heard...for good reason. The leaning back to get the big note was bad and could have been prevented if she was STANDING UP!!! Oh! Best performance of the season?!?!?! Simon needs to stay away from Paula drinks!!! Walk the Line was the best of the season!
Taylor is next and will be in next week so as long as he sings something and yells out to the Soul Patrol. I think he would have done better with The Letter. Simon said it was his best of the competition. I don't know because I really can't think of any song that Taylor has done that was not overshadowed by his dancing. Can someone help me remember?
This is taking up way too much time!! Good thing I don't feel strongly about this!
The third songs were picked by the contestants and I think they all pick well...better than Clive anyway. I could have picked better songs with a dart and a blind fold! Okay, I'll stop! Anyway, Elliott was WAY over powered by the band. So much so that I could hear him at times. They have needed to fix that since the final 12 at least and haven't so why am I surprised? I have no idea.
Kat sang an old Ba-Ba-Blues song that I didn't care for but at least she wasn't on the floor. Taylor sang a song that he wanted to sing during love song week. He was Taylor (shout outs to the soul patrol).
I'd like to take this time to agree with comments that Simon has made in the past, Taylor is a wedding singer. He tries to make a mark on the song but doesn't seem to know how to do that so he tries several things, none of which work. This was evident to me tonight. I think Taylor can sing okay and is the best performer. Kat can sing and is the best looking. Elliott is the best singer and...that's about it. We can kid ourselves by saying that AI is a singing contest but it's not. It' about HAVING the whole package. Not about finding the person who has the stuff to BECOME the whole package.
Elliott will have a great career. After his Idol stint is over, look for him to drop out of sight for a while for a little work (teeth, ears, style, etc.) and then watch out!
If you haven't guessed by now, I'm an Elliott fan that happens to think that Kat should have gone last week and it should have been Chris in the final three. Chris would have guaranteed us three good songs. Kat is inconsistent. I think that since it wasn't going to be an all guy final three that TPTB decided to have a boy/girl final. Since there was NO WAY they could get rid of Taylor, they had to get rid of Elliott. I think they did a great job at doing that but we won't know for sure until tonight.
I'll write more tomorrow.

Song Updates
It looks like the only songs that are confirmed are the judges picks.
Paula for Elliott = What you Won't Do For Love by Bobby Caldwell
Randy for Taylor = You Are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker
Simon for Katharine = Somewhere Over the Rainbow
The rest have changed so often this weekend that I've given up. We'll just have to wait and see.
The line up hasn't been confirmed but Jennifer from Woes and Prose had a very interesting bolg on the subject. She has WAY more time than me to contemplate the inner workings of AI. In a nut shell, she said that, base on previous Idols, the line up will be Katharine first, then Elliot and Taylor last. This is based on the assumption that Taylor received the most votes last week. Also, whoever has gone first on top 3 night has left the next night. Unless something out of the blue happens, Kat will be leaving.
There are rumors this weekend about voting/telephone number errors regarding Chris and Kat last week but they haven't been confirmed only denied. Chris will not be coming back. He will have an excellent career in the alt-rock scene. There was also talk about Chris and his ego during the interviews after he got booted. Some people are claiming that he sounded arrogant and full of himself, saying that he was expecting to win. In his defense, EVERYONE was saying that about him. To quote one of my favorite movies, "You can only hear that Richard Gere gerbil story so many times before you start believing it." (Scream, incase you're wondering.) I don't blame him for feeling that way and I don't think it's his ego talking. I think he was trying to let everyone know how he felt and telling it in a way we could understand. Rock on Chris!
I think that's all I'll have until Wednesday morning! Until then...

They'll sing the Songs
The next American Idol show is the Top 3! It some ways it seems like a lifetime ago that this season started but in most ways, it seems like just yesterday.
What am I going to do in two weeks?!?!?! Will there be a support group I can join?
Anyway, back to the important issues!
The next American Idol has Clive Davis picking a song for each contestant, a judge picking a song for a contestant, and the contestant pick their own song.
Here's what I know so far:
Personal Choice:
Taylor - "Try a Little Tenderness" - via a radio interview this morning
Judge Choice:
Elliott - Paula Abdul picked Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do For Love" - It was announced when he received the keys to the city from the Mayor of Richmond
I'll update this post Monday with more info!!

Rock On, Chris
Well, Chris left us last night in what turned out to be a bit of a shock...at least for me. I didn't think I would be but I was wrong. I felt really bad for him and got a little misty! I think it should have been Kat. I think Chris left because people got tired of the same old thing. The funny thing is that is what going to give him a great career. No one records a record that contains music of all types. They stick with one sound, that is what make a career. So, no tears for Chris. We will be seeing him again and he will make boat loads of cash!
Now it's down to three. Elliott is the one to watch. If he keeps on knocking them out of the park, he will even beat Taylor and the Soul Patrol. Did you notice during the footage at Graceland someone handed something to Kat and told her to give it to Elliott?!?! I LOVED it!
It will come down to Elliott and Taylor in the final. Kat has escaped the chopping block the past two weeks and SHOULD have been there. I think she knows that and it's going to be a major factor. The pressure to knock our socks off along with her nerves will do her in.
It's time for the Idols to sing a song picked by Clive Davis. Look for him to pick something boring or completely wrong for one of the Idols. That will be the one going home!
BTW, I loved the group number! They should have been dong that every time!!!

My Boy Pulled It Out!
My boy Elliott kicked ass last night!! I now have a new favorite song..."Trouble!" I loved last nights show but I think that Elliott was the only one to rock both songs and give the performance of a life. I'm so happy!!
I check DailIdol before writing this and it would seem that most of America agrees with me so far as Elliott goes, although, he should have been number one. I did NOT like Taylor last night. "In the Ghetto" is my all time favorite Elvis song and he stunk it up big time! What was that? Country and Soul mixed? I don't think they go together too well. His first song was, to use a Simonism, was very "wedding singer."
Chris wasn't that great either. He did an okay job with the first song but the second song was BORING! Oh! I'm also getting tired of him holding the mic up so high and blocking out his face.
Kat was so bad on her first song that I almost hit the mute! This should not be happening this late in the game. I do kinda feel sorry for her. It's obvious this theme was picked to promote an all male final and they might just get it. Her second song was better but not by much.
Elliott, oh Elliott! I was beside myself last night! I knew he had it in him! The first song was fantastic but the second gives me chills just thinking about it! Notice how he commanded everyone's attention WITHOUT going to the stage in the audience? The only one who did not try to get votes that way. Love him!!
I don't know whether to fully believe DialIdol or not. If they are to be trusted this time, Chris will be leaving us. I feel, however, that it will be Kat who will be on the chopping block at the end. I can't wait until tonight!!!

Song Spoilers for Tonight
It looks like Idol has leaked the song choices. Here they are:
Elliott Yamin: "Trouble" and "If I Can Dream"
Chris Daughtry: "A Little Less Conversation" and "Suspicious Minds"
Taylor Hicks: "In the Ghetto" and "Jailhouse Rock"
Katherine McPhee: "Hound Dog/All Shook Up" and "Can't Help Falling in Love"
I'm not sure what to think but it should be interesting!!

Ode to the Dead
Ode to the Dead
The one that couldn't make it
Maybe if you hadn't smiled during sad songs
Or laughed during sadder songs
Ode to the Dead
The one that will go places anyway
Don't be sad for too long
We will see you again...and again...and again!
Well, that's my ode to Chia-Paris. I think she was wonderful but something was a little off. It became clear to me when she sang The Way We Were with a smile. Did she even READ the lyrics? Don't they have coaches to help them out?
I can't wait until next week! I'm already exercising my dialing finger for Elliott for I fear he will be the next to go. I really want an all guy top three but I don't think I'll be getting my wish!

Happy Idol Day
Yes, it's Tuesday so it's...American Idol!
I love this day!!
Unless something out the ordinary happens, I think it's Paris that will be leaving...but I said that last time. We shall see!
