Day After
Well, I lost my notes so I guess I'll wing it. Overall, it was a good night, better for some than for others. Paula was in rare form which is always fun! I think the opening segment was WAY too long. Considering most of us didn't know who the two guests were. Songwriters are great but not well know to most people. Before you get up in arms, I'm just telling it like it is. David Foster may have written every song known to man (except those written by David Alan Coe) but, unless he sang it too, most of us don't know him. Anyway, back to Idol.
Kat was first up and looked fabulous!! She sounded excellent as well. Was she as good as Whitney? No, but I didn't feel she was trying to be. I was floored by what the judges said! I thought it was way harsh which will probable work in her favor. All the Kat fans were dialing like crazy at the end of the show!
Next was my Elliott! He looked fantastic and sounded even better! The judges gave him a ton of praise which worried me. I hope that all the Elliott fans weren't lulled into a sense of security! I voted my ass off!
Oh what a night! Kellie bombed..again! I was so bored during the whole thing I fell asleep. Just kidding! I was too excited that she sucked so hard again! The judges agreed. Randy said the only good note was the really high one and I agree. Paula said that she hasn't improved and Simon called it the never ending song. I hope that Kellie fans were pissed at her for sucking so bad twice and decided not the vote. Oh please, oh please!! OH! What was up with that hair!!!!!
Taylor had an off night. I think he might have been sick. When I sing and don't feel well, I hold my chest on the tough notes and it seems that Taylor was doing that as well. The judges were kind considering. He will be in the top three again thanks to his fans.
Paris didn't do it for me tonight. I think it was the whole smiling thing that through me off. It's not a happy song but she performed it like it was. I think this is an age thing and not understanding how to perform a love song.
The pimp spot was given to Chris. I think in an effort to keep him out of the bottom three. It succeeded, he won't be there tonight! He was great and got great reviews. I think we have a winner! The writing has been on the wall for a while but it was underlined last night!
I haven't check DailIdol yet but I will as soon as I post this!
I predict that Paris will go home tonight but, God willing, it will be Kellie!
Take Care!
One More Day!
I need help! AI is consuming my life!! Oh well! It could be worse.
Love songs are up next. I'm not so sure about this theme. I think the themes have been pretty tame and I some excitement!! Please let Rock be next!!!
My darling Elliott seems to be on the ropes for this week even before a note has been sung! I think he has done OUTSTANDING considering he hasn't gotten pimped hardly at all. He has to be very proud of himself. He needs to blow it out of the water tomorrow to hang on. I'm not sure what kind of career he will have but I'll buy his first CD!!
Paris isn't doing much better than Elliott at this point. She had such promise! I think if she would have lived up to that promise from the beginning, no one would be able to touch her...even Kellie with her devoted fans or Katherine with her wonderful voice!
Speaking of Kellie, PLEASE let her suck again!! Let her think she can do the Titanic song!! She will bomb if she does Celine! Everyone! Cross your fingers!! I so want her to go down!! She is the weak link vocally and needs to be sent packing. Don't worry, I'm sure she'll have a fine career of acting dumb! She seems to do it so well (according to the votes).
Chris is sinking down the drain as well. I think he'll have a great career in and alt rock band and be very famous. I'm not sure how the contracts work with AI but he might be wishing to leave before the final 3! Maybe the sink is part of his plan.
Taylor doesn't need AI either. He will be great and make tons of cash. No worries!
Katharine needs this and has a shot of winning it. I don't know if she can do it but she does need it in order to make it.
Who goes home Wednesday isn't decided (mainly because they still have to sing!!) but it's clear that Taylor and Kathrine will be safe. If Elliott knocks one out of the park, he might be safe as well. Kellie has a risk of going to the bottom three this week if she stinks again and will have a chance of going home if she sucks at Celine (please, oh please!). Paris will be in the bottom three no matter what she does, I think it's just too late for her. Chris is walking the line (ha-ha) this week but won't be going home. Elliott, Paris, and Kellie (please, oh please) need to watch their P's & Q's!!
You had a bad day Ace
Ace has left and Chris was in the bottom two. Ace leaving is not that big of a deal. He has been sucking wind for quite sometime and should have left last week instead of Bucky. I doesn't really matter because Bucky would have left this week.
I hate it when they make the last person pick the top 3! Poor Taylor! I think he handled it well. Didn't they do that to Bo last year and he just stood in the middle of the stage?
I'm dreading next week. Love songs! Oh boy! Slow music. Bring in some rock!!! An 80's week would be awesome!
Can't wait until next week!
Well, it's Execution Day!
My general feelings for the night were ho-hum. I think they might have been better to do Disco or the 80's. This was too close to what they did with Barry Manilow. It was nice not to have Chris scream-sing again. I am now in love with Elliott! I'm hoping that last weeks Execution Day helped him. Gotta love a man that cries!!
First up was Chris and I thought it was okay. I'm glad he ditched the eyeliner! I think he could have done more with it but who am I to talk. The most I've ever won by singing was a steak dinner!
Next was Paris. I'm on the fence with her. Sometimes she sings the word in a very strange way. Kinda like they get stuck in her nose or something. I think she'll be in the bottom three tonight.
Taylor was pretty good. He's an entertainer! I don't think he has the best voice but he can work a crowd. I guess that's the benefit of being the lead of your own band and working Vegas!
Then we had Elliott, the last underdog! He is getting better looking each week and thanks goodness! He may be the best male singer but, without the looks, he's had a hard time. I'm very worried for him tonight!
I thought Kellie was terrible! Did you see Simon put his head down on the table? That was funny! I wish that people voted on the night's performance only but we have a TON of people who are buying into her act. Simon said last week that the American people appreciate honesty but I don't think everybody does. If that was the case, Kellie would have been gone a long time ago. It's wishful thinking that she'll be in the bottom three and even MORE wishful thinking that she'll go home tonight. But a girl can dream can't she?
Ace was next looking rather odd with his hair in that severe ponytail. Yes, Ace, we know that you didn't cut your hair. We're not blind! He will be in the bottom three but I don't know if he's going home tonight. BTW, I HATE falsetto!!
Katharine rounded out the night in the pimp spot. I have to agree with Simon that she seemed like a seasoned professional but I'm not sure that's what America wants. I wasn't very excited about her performance. She is the best female singer since Mandissa left but I'm not sure if that will be enough to win it for her. She will, however, be safe tonight.
Over all it was an okay episode. I'm not sure who will be leaving tonight but I can't wait to find out!!
PS-DialIdol put Ace on the bottom but they had him there last week...we shall see!
Take Care-
Kristi
The Morning After
Well, it wasn't as bad as I had hoped. Actually, I was pretty surprised that they all did as well as they did. I'm not sure if a Queen night was such a great idea but it seemed to work okay. It was great hearing from the guys in Queen. I tried not to look at other blogs before I wrote mine but I couldn't help myself!! I will try not to let it effect what I think.
Here they are as I saw it.
Ace sucked. There is not much more to say. I don't think you can get away with changing that type a song without MAJOR backlash. I'd love to see Kellie go but I think it's your turn Ace! You should have been born into the Boy Band era. Sorry! But, maybe, I got sucked in by the AI Machine. I think they wanted Ace to go so they did everything they could to help him out the door.
I've thought about Bucky's performance all night (and morning) and I think I've come to a decision, I love the song and, therefore, loved Bucky last night but not for being Bucky, just for singing one of my favorite songs. I thought he did a decent job but nothing note worthy. I agree with Simon this time.
Why does America keep voting for Kellie? She was horrible last night yet the judges praised her. After that performance coupled with what the judges said, if I was Kellie, I'd be wondering what the hell was going on. Pimping at it's finest!
Now for Chris...I'm at a loss for words. I normally love Chris but last night was a very bad night for him. Not the worst performance by far but still pretty bad. I find myself agreeing with Simon and wondering if Randy is dipping into Paula's stash. He scream-sang the whole, repetitive thing and just managed to give me a headache. Oh! Way too much eyeliner honey!!
Katharine was VERY pitchy. The clip they showed during the wrap up only cemented that fact in my mind. Mandisa would have been awesome. The judges were kind. Since they want Ace gone, everyone else pretty much got a pass for this show.
Goofy Taylor is back! Loved the missed kick at the mic stand. I thought he was entertaining. Not much more than that. He's got a ton of fans so he'll be here a long time.
On to my darling, underdog Elliott! I really hope he makes it far! The song started out a little rough but he pulled it out for a fantastic ending!! The judges were kind and I think that helps...sometimes.
Paris had the best performance hands down!! I couldn't look away and found myself smiling and, at one point, talking out loud about her. I can't say how much I loved it! Not to keen on the hair last night. Oh well!
I think Ace is history tonight. I would LOVE to have it be Kellie but that's not going to happen!!
I just checked out DialIdol!! Here are the standings according to them:
1 Taylor Hicks 31.38
2 Kellie Pickler 27.912
3 Paris Bennett 26.298
4 Elliott Yamin 24.404
5 Katharine McPhee 22.55
6 Chris Daughtry 22.404
7 Bucky Covington 16.585
8 Ace Young 16.31
Can't wait until tonight!!

I think I'm going to DIE!!
Did you see this article? Not Bucky doing Fat Bottom Girls!?!?! I don't hink I can watch!!
It's Tuesday so it's...American Idol!
Well everybody, today is the day. It could be another train wreck or it could be fantastic! I hope you all have your favorite Queen song picked out. I'm hoping that Taylor or Chris do Fat Bottom Girls. More tomorrow!!
AI in Review...or...Why am I still watching?
It's been a long season so far and I'm late coming into the blogging game but I'll do my best! The past few shows have been a let down talent-wise and I don't think that this Tuesday's show is going to be any different. I won't be surprised if:
Taylor phones it in again
Chris sings an alt-rock version of something
Kellie dons her best countrified twang and acts stupid
Ace stares into the camera with those puppy-dog eyes and makes me barf (please don't pull open your shirt again!!!)
Bucky sings something and we don't understand a word
Elliott sings very well but isn't very exciting (is it just me or are the stylists working overtime on him? If so, keep up the good work!)
Katharine is cute and sings well but, like Elliott, not very exciting
Paris sings something that has the potential to be great but falls flat
I'm predicting that the pimp spot will go to Chris this week (but I am hoping that Elliott get it!) since the theme was picked just for him. I also think that Elliott, Katharine and Paris need to do all they can to pul out the performance of a life time if they want to stay in. They are the weak links at this point. I would LOVE to see Ace leave but I don't think that will happen this week (unless he does "Do I DO" again...like that's going to happen!).
Another thing that I've noticed is that the band is too loud! Last week during Katharine's song, I could only understand the "Bringing out the Elvis in me" part and nothing else so I'm not sure what that guy was doing to bring out the Elvis. And what does that mean anyway? Does he make you want to start doing drugs and die on the john?
Last post I talked about Ace, Kellie and Paris so I better jump to getting to the rest of them. But I have something to get off my chest first and I will try not to talk about it again.
Why did they choose Pickler to pimp? Don't they know that they can change their minds and de-pimp her like they did with Mandisa? I don't understand how she keeps getting so many votes. I know that votefortheworst.com would like to take the credit but considering the "good job" they did with Kevin, I don't think that explains it. Besides, her numbers have been way up there since the beginning. You could blame it on her sad tale of woe about her so-called bad family life and I think that's partly to blame but Melissa McGee's story was just as sad if not sadder not that anyone outside the blogging world would know that. It seems that the producers picked her from the beginning and have been doing all they can to pimp her. They give her tons of air time, a lead in the funky car commercial last week, one on one time with Ryan, time to make any stupid comment she wants to, and they bury anyone's story that might take the votes away from her. I don't think the voting is rigged but the producers sure know how to push America's buttons to get the results they want!
I feel better! Now, where was I? Oh yeah, Ace, Kellie and Paris - done!
Let's start with the ones who are already gone starting with Melissa. I liked Melissa. I think I like her because I didn't know much about her until the top 12 and I, of course, loved her voice. I'm pretty sure that if the producers had picked her to pimp, we would know all about her parents being in jail 20-30 times and how they all found Jesus but no! America didn't know jack and thus, didn't vote for her. AI may claim to be a search for the best singer but it's not. They are building a whole marketing package around one or two people and that takes time. The contestants that don't get picked to go all the way from the beginning are doomed. I think it says a lot that Melissa made it as far as she did!
The next to die was Kevin Covais. I think every year the producers pick someone that very young, can sing, but doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of making it all the way. Even with the help of Vote for The Worst, Kevin couldn't make it to the tour. I'm not sure if pretending he was a sex symbol helped him. I think he should have acted embarrassed instead. The Grandma's wouldn't have let him down and we'd have another John Stevens on our hands.
Then there was poor little Lisa Tucker. She should be in a Disney show...oh, wait! She was! I think she can sing but I never saw her as an idol. I'm sure she will have a great career with Disney where her personality won't come across as annoying.
The saddest elimination in my book was Mandisa. I couldn't believe that the person with the most talent was gone! And judging from their reaction, the audience couldn't either. They, along with the rest of America, didn't know what to do! I was floored. Not that I thought Elliott should go or Paris for that matter. Unfortunately, in this day and age, it's not cool to sing about Jesus on national TV. I think she lost momentum with the song and, combined with the lack of air time and the producers de-pimping her, it signaled the end (a very quick end). She already had a job offer from Barry Manilow so she will do fine. Maybe go into gospel with Reuben.
Chris is one of the contestants that have been pimped the most by the producers and I feel that they are pushing for him to win. It's time that a white boy won and Chris fits the bill. He's a great singer, has already had a ligit job offer from Fuel, is a family man, and is not a bit hard on the eyes. I melted last week when he sang. I don't remember what the song was about but I remember thinking that his wife was a very lucky woman!! I also loved "Walk the Line" and I don't care if it was a version from Live or not.
Someone needs to explain to me how Bucky got this far. The boy can hardly speak let alone sing. He's trying the whole "I'm just a good old country boy thing" and I guess that's working for him. The whole sweet tea thing was a little much. You can add sugar to your own tea dumbass! I think he'll stick around for a little while longer. The producers want their chosen ones to have an easy time so they'll try to keep Bucky around for the easy kill towards the end.
Now for Elliott, the only underdog left. I LOVE an underdog!! I like Elliott and Mandisa for the same reasons, they both can sing extremely well and they are both underdogs, Mandisa for her weight and Elliott for his looks. The stylists have been doing an outstanding job on Elliott, I think someone back stage likes him! He does suffer from the same problem that Mandisa did, not enough exposure! The producers are pimping their favs and leaving the rest behind. I think Elliott might be in trouble this week unless he has a very exciting performance or he get the pimp spot (which is highly unlikely). I'll keep voting for you Elliott!
I'm not sure what to think about Katharine. The girl can sign but she's not getting the attention she deserves (at least not that I can think of). She can sing circles around Kellie yet you couldn't tell it by the judges comments. I think she may be going sooner rather than later because she would be still competition for Kellie if she make it too much further. She needs to sing sexy, slow songs in order to melt all the men's hearts (or another body part that's a bit lower).
Last, but not least, is Taylor. Another one that the producers want to be in the finals. I love Taylor but have been disappointed by him a few times, most recently last week. I can't believe he just phoned it in! He sang the wrong words and put nothing of himself into the performance. I've heard rumors that he was sick or that it was a last minute song change due to legal reasons but I'm not so sure. I think Taylor might have figured it out. He's not going to win. He will make it to the top three no matter what he does so he might as well save up his energy for when it really counts.
Well, there it is in a nut shell. By the way, I need serious help. I think AI is taking over my life!!!
I know, just what we need! ANOTHER person talking about AI. Well, all I can say is:
My name is Kristi
And I’m an AI-oholic
Everybody: “Hi, Kristi!”
I’m not sure how this happened. I started watching AI in Season 3. Before that I was too much of a snob to watch and thought it was just “so pedestrian!” I couldn’t be bothered! Flash forward a few years and here I am, hopelessly addicted to what is turning out to be the worst season of AI, talent-wise, yet! I can’t explain it! I spend at least an hour or two a day reading my favorite blogs to get more AI. My husband thought I would going insane when AI was cut back to ONLY two days a week! I still miss that third day! * sigh * Anyway, during seasons 3 and 4 I was happy to wait until Tuesday for AI and I was equally happy on Wednesday but the rest of the week, I didn’t give AI a thought. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME? I have at least 10 bookmarks that I check everyday and, when there’s nothing new there, I search for new sites to bookmark.
I blame my Yahoo! homepage! One day a link to an AI blog popped up and I was asked if I wanted to add it to my content. I thought, what could it hurt? It’s just one little link – it’s wafer thin! I swear! “It seemed like a good idea at the time” will be on my headstone!
Enough about that, I’m sure I’ll come back to it again.
Now, on to my Idol-Thoughts!
I can’t say I’m too excited about anyone at this point but here are my thoughts in a nut shell in no particular order.
Ace – Can someone tell him that Boy Band Idol would be more his speed?!?! Maybe we can send him back to the 90’s. “Do I Do” was Bad so Bad! I love that song and hardly recognized it. And what was with that whole scar thing last time! I thought I was going to barf! The puppy dog gaze into the camera makes me roll my eyes every time. Then again, I never did like him. I’m not in to the “Pretty Boy” types, never have been.
Kellie – Is America still buying her act? I think we all know by now that she has been on TV before performing and besides, no one can be that stupid…I hope not anyway. I thought I would cry when she did Patsy. I live in Winchester, VA, Patsy’s hometown, where she is queen! To have that no-talent ass-clown sing one of the Sacred Songs was too much!
Paris – I loved her during auditions! I thought she was going to be the Next American Idol. Then…nothing. She just has not performed up to her audition on a regular basis. The odds are better that she’ll perform at a standard level and not blow our socks off like I was hoping that she would. She is still cute! She needs to be careful. She was on the annoying edge when she was singing at Ryan that one time she did well so she better be careful. (I had a co-worker that sang at me once…they never did find her!)
More tomorrow!! I have appointments to take care of!!!
